Full Story--

Viktoria Kuznetsova of Rostov, Russia, will spend six years in prison after she was found guilty of starving her infant son to death while she “partied” for a week.

The 17-year-old mother sat emotionless in court as her sentence was read. During the trial, the jury heard how she had planned to kill 9-month-old Egor when she started college. Like most babies, Egor did not yet sleep through the night. Viktoria did not like how he kept her up at night.

She was also bitter that Egor stopped her from enjoying a social life. She did not want to sit home with a baby while her friends were out enjoying each other’s company, pirates, and fun.

Egor’s father was in the military so he could not care for the baby. He immediately filed for divorce from Viktoria upon learning of his son’s death. She had sent him to an orphanage at one month old, but for reasons unknown, he was returned to her by the time he was 7-months-old.

So, in early 2018, Vikorira strapped Egor into a stroller, rolled it into a bedroom, and locked the door behind her without any care or concern for the baby. She went out with friends, spending a week partying with them. She told friends that Egor was in good hands with her aunt, so no one thought anything of Viktoria being away for such a long period.

Baby Egor Died

While she was enjoying herself, baby Egor died from starvation and dehydration. When she returned home, she did not check on Egor, but instead, gave the dog a fresh bowl of water.

Neighbors called the police because they did not believe her story. Police discovered the deceased infant during this welfare check.

Egor’s internal organs had shut down, his death the result of dehydration and starvation. His eyes were open when police found him, the look of horror on his face. His body, tiny and frail, had begun to rot by the time he was found.

Police took Viktoria into custody at that time. She confessed that she did not want the baby. She did not show emotions or seem to mind going to jail but was very concerned about what was going to happen to her. She never wanted baby Egor and had no qualms showing or telling this fact to anyone who cared to listen.

My Thoughts

Not sure how laws, orphanages, adoptions, etc. work outside the U.S. However, Viktoria attempted to do the right thing when she gave Egor to the orphanage. I commend her for that, at least. I’m very curious why he was returned back to her and why she could not place the baby up for adoption.

Like other social media users who heard about the story, I find a sentence of just six years a joke. How can someone take the life of another and get such small prison sentences? People spend longer time in prison for drugs or fraud! #MakeitMakeSense

She abandoned baby Egor, repeatedly stating how she did not want him. This resulted in his death and should result in murder charges with a far harsher sentence than six years!
