CHAPTER TWO

"Bitch look here when it comes to my money you go get it and don't play no games with it" Stoney tells his whore Trish and slaps her across the face. "Yes daddy I'm going to get your money" she replied after the slap. " Then what you standing here for go and hit them tracks" he screams at her and she sashays away with her tight mini skirt. " Stupid ass skeezer" Stoney mutter's not caring if she heard him or not. Stoney was a heartless pimp. Coming up in the streets of Memphis he couldn't afford to have any heart. Stoney stood six foot two with a dark chocolate complexion skin tone. He was a solid two hundred and twenty pounds of straight muscles and he didn't get it from working out but from surviving in the trenches of the streets. Constantly fighting defending off kids that were bigger then him because back then he was real small and starving. The kids use to pick on him and call him Stoney the Shrimp. But now the streets of Memphis called him Stoney the Pimp. And he had earned the name. Stoney had one of the biggest stables of women in the whole Memphis covering the north, east, south, and west. Not only did he have women but he also had a numerous amount of business ventures. Stoney is what you called a Hustler. Any and everything he could get in to make money he was in it. He had a diner a car wash a boutique and a few houses. Stoney wasn't the flashy type he just liked to get money because growing up he never had nothing. But now he had it all. He even had the envy, jealousy, and hate of others who wanted to be in his shoes. But no one could be Stoney because no one felt the pain in Stoney stomach from not having nothing to eat at night. Having to dig in trash cans just so that the hunger pains can go away. Sleeping in abandoned buildings and houses. Some nights freezing cold with nothing to keep him warm. Then the pain from how he lost of his mother. How he sat back helpless and watched his mother shoot drugs into her vains until she overdosed right in front of his eyes. Falling into a heavy nod never to wake up again. After sitting in the abandoned house with the dead body of his mother for more then a week with nothing to eat and after a thousand attempts to wake his mother up because he was hungry, Stoney knew something was wrong. So he cried. He cried until he couldn't cry no more because he knew his mother was dead. And he wanted revenge. The person who sold his mother the drugs had to die too. He already didn't have nothing. Now the only thing he did have was taken too. He gave her the best burial he could. Covering her up in a blanket and saying a prayer over her body. Then he left out of the abandoned house on a mission. Not even feeling the hunger pains any more. His mother use to always take him with her to this certain house when she bought her drugs. So he was headed there now. He knew the dude would open up the door for him because the dude use to always try to rub on his head when his mother brought him with her. When he got to the house he just stood there in front of the front door. He was confused because he didn't know what to do. All he knew is that he wanted to kill the man. But he didn't know how to go about doing it. He almost lost his heart and turned around to leave. But decided he made it this far he might as well follow through. He stepped up on the front porch and knocked on the door "thump thump thump". His knocks was soft on the door but someone had heard because he heard shuffling inside of the house. "Who out there?" The person inside asked. "Sto sto Stoney" He stutters. "Stoney who?" The person ask. "Cindy son Stoney" He answered managing to stop the stuttering. "Cindy?" The person ask. Everyone knew Cindy. She was a well known whore and druggie in Memphis. Then the locks started unlocking and the door opens. Dude peeps his head out the crack "where Cindy at boy? What you doing over here by yourself?" He asked Stoney. "My Momma dead" Stoney tells him. The Dude looks at him unbelieving. "How you know she dead?" He asked. "She went to sleep and when I tried to wake her up she wouldn't get up" Stoney tells him. "Damn it come on in, you hungry?" He asked Stoney. As Stoney steps into the house he confirms he's hungry by shaking his head yeah. "Well come on. I got some lunch meat in the refrigerator." The whole time he was thinking to himself how he was going to get rid of the kid. He didn't have time for no children. Especially one that wasn't his. He took Stoney into his kitchen and sat him down at the kitchen table. " sit there and let me make you a sandwich" He tells Stoney. Stony sits at the table looking around the room trying to come up with a plan on how to kill this man. The man came back to the table and sat a sandwich on a plate down and a cup filled with milk in front of Stoney and took the seat opposite Stoney with his back at the kitchen sink. "So you say Cindy dead huh?" He ask Stoney. "Yeah she dead" Stoney says after gobbling down the last bite of his sandwiche. "Tell me what happened?" He asked Stoney. Stoney explained to him how when him and his mother left his spot that they did their usual. And how when she shot up she nodded off never to wake up again. The Dude put the picture together and figured that Cindy had overdosed. He must have sold her a bad batch of heroin the last time she had come through. Well better her then me he thought to himself. "You done eating that food?" He asked Stoney ready to get rid of the boy. Yeah I'm done" Stoney answered. "Pick up them dishes and and put them in the sink" He tells Stoney. Stoney gathers up the dishes and walks behind the man to the sink. The man pulled out a cigarette and fired it up while Stoney did what he told him to. When Stoney got to the sink to set the dishes inside he spotted a steak knife sitting in the sink. Without a second thought he grabbed the knife and tighten his grip around the wooden handle. When he turned back around dude was still puffing on his cigarette not paying him no mind. Stoney decided that this was his chance. He walked up behind the man and raised his arm with the knife in it. When he brought it down it landed right in the side of dude neck. "Ahhhhh!!!!!" He screams. Stoney pulled the knife out and brought it back down again with swiftness and precision the blow hitting the man in a main artery in his neck which made blood skurt up five foot in the air. "Ahhhhh you motherfucker" He screams and grabs his neck falling to the floor with the knife sticking out of his neck. Stoney stood over him and watched him wiggle and squirm until all the life drained out of him. Once Stoney knew he was dead he started searching through the house. When he got to the living room he found nothing. Then the bedroom. He came up on a shoe box full of money. Then he found a stash of heroin. He didn't know how much it was worth but he knew he could make money off of it. He grabbed a pillow case off of the pillow on the bed and put everything inside of it. Then he went back to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator and racked all the food inside of the pillow case. After he was done he took one more look at the dead figure on the floor. At the tender age of thirteen he had just killed his first man. And it wouldn't be his last. He walked slowly to the front door making sure he didn't overlook nothing. When he opened the door two fiends was standing outside." Hey~" They was about to say something until they saw that it was the wrong person. Stoney stepped out and closed the door behind him and went on about his business. The two fiends would spread the word in the streets that they had seen Cindy boy coming up out of the dope house when the dope man had been killed and robbed. Nothing never came of the situation but that set the streets to talking about how he was a stone bloodied killer. When he got back to the abandoned house he sat down and poured the contents of the pillow case on the floor right where his mother lay. He took the money and drugs and set it to the one side and put the food to the other. He counted up the money by putting it in stacks of thousands. He counted real slow so that he wouldn't mess up plus he wasn't in no rush. When he was finished he had a total of sixty three thousand dollars. All he knew was it was a lot of money compared to what he was use to having and that was nothing. The most money Stoney ever had in his hand at one time was a dollar and now to have all this money he felt empowered. The first thing he wanted to do was get his mother a proper burial. He counted out five thousand of the dollars and put the rest back in the shoe box. He put the stash of heroin inside also. He kneels down and said a prayer over his mother. Then pulled at the floor boards until he found one loose. When he found one he put the shoe box under the board and left the house. He wasn't worried about the food, it wasn't no refrigerator to put it in, so he was going to eat it when he got back. He walked up Main street until he came to a funeral home. He rings the door bell and a spooky looking dude come to the door. "How can I help you son?" He ask. "I'm trying to bury my mother sir" He said to the man. "Bury your mother? Where she at son?" The man ask. Stoney gives him the directions to the abandoned house. "You mean to tell me no one knows she dead?" The man ask. "Know one knows but me" Stoney answers and digs in his pocket pulling out the money and hands it to the man. "Can you bury her?"Stoney ask. "What's this son?" He ask answering Stoney question with a question looking at the money. "That's so you can bury her properly." Stoney answers. The man looks at Stoney and sees the little scraggly boy and thought to himself that the boy had to be starving. He counted through the money. Five thousand dollars. He wondered where the kid could get his hands on so much money looking how he was looking. He didn't want to take all the kids money so he counted off a thousand dollars and handed it back to the kid. "Here you go son. We going to bury your Momma. You take this money and go buy you some food and clothes. Give me the directions to your house again" He tells Stoney. Stoney gave him the directions again and left out. He wanted to get back to the house to get the food and his money. Because after he buried his mother he wasn't going to return to the house. When he got back he gathered up everything and put it back in the pillow case and hid it in a cabinet. When he heard the man car pull up he went outside and showed him in. When the man stepped in the house he smelled the stench of the dead body instantly. When he pulled back the blanket the woman was starting to decompose but he could still recognize her beautiful face. Cindy. Even through all the whoring and drug abuse she was still beautiful even in death. So the boy had to be her young son Stoney he thought. "Come on son we got to get her out of here and down to the funeral home." He tells Stoney and together they got the body out of the house and into the hearse. Once the body was situated Stoney stepped back and waited for the man to get in and leave. Once the man noticed this he asked "you not going to get in son?" "No sir I'll walk down there" Stoney answered. The man looked at him puzzled and shrugged his shoulders. "Oh well if you'd like" he said and got in the hearse crunk it up and drove off. Stoney went back in the abandoned house and got the pillow case. He had seen a room~in house that rented out rooms when he was walking to the funeral home. He had planned on getting a room at the place to stay in. He made up his mind that he would never sleep on the streets again. And he would never go hungry again. He stopped by a clothes store and got fitted for some nice threads. He wanted to look good for his mother burial. After he was done shopping he went to the room~ in house. The price was ten dollars a day plus they afforded the occupant a small refrigerator and stove. Stoney paid for the week went to the room and sat down on the soft bed. It had been awhile since he slept in a bed. Wood and concrete was all he could remember. He put the food in the fridge and started searching for somewhere to hide the shoe box. None of the floor boards would move so he couldn't hide it there. He didn't know anyone he could trust with the money so he was dead on that issue. He decided to keep everything with him because he didn't want to lose it. He went and got him a hot bath which turned the bath water black after he was done. The cleaness left his skin feeling tingly. He put on a pair of the new clothes and shoes and couldn't help but smile. He looked like a totally new person. He grabbed up the shoe box ready to walk out the door but then thought better of it. He went to the fridge and got out a brown paper bag poured out what was in it and put the money and heroin inside it. Rolled it up nice and tight then headed to the funeral home. When he got there the man who ran the place was waiting on him. Everything was done all they had to do was put his mother in her resting place. When Stoney looked at his mother in the casket she was beautiful. Especially in the dress the man had put her in. They rolled the casket outside to the hearse and put her inside. This time Stoney got in and rode to the burial site. Once they was to the site they got out and took the casket to a spot where the ground was already dug up. They lowered her in then Stoney turned to the man, "I'll cover her up with the dirt" He tells him. He grabbed the shovel and went to work shoveling the dirt. The man stood back and watched. He saw something in the kid. He saw the will and determination of survival. Right then he knew that whichever way that the kid decided to go he was going to go far. When Stoney was done he was fatigued and drenched in sweat. He fell down to a knee right at his mother grave out of breath. The man stepped up to him. "Bow your head son" He tells Stoney and Stoney bowed his head and the man spoke a beautiful sermon for Stoney mother. The man's words was kind and touching and when he was done Stoney opened his eyes shedding his last tears because from that point on he promised his self that he wouldn't cry no more. From that moment on he was going to be one heartless motherfucker. Not having a care in the world. And now his ambitions was to take over the world. If not the world then the whole town of Memphis. And that's exactly what he did. When Stoney came out of his trance remembering that fateful day he had to bury his mother he looked around. He ran the city. The drugs that was being sold was his. The pussy that was being sold was for him. If he didn't own a business he had investments in it. But he would give it all up to have his mother back. He walked over to his Cadillac coup deville looked around one last time and got in. He was ready to eat so he was heading over to his spot which he named Stoney diner. He had hired some of the best chef's in Memphis to run his spot and it stayed full because of that. When he stepped out of his car at his place some people spoke, some nodded, some envied, some hated, but everyone respected Stoney because they knew he wasn't nothing to be played with. People who tested or disrespected Stoney wasn't around anymore. Rumors was that Stoney killed them and got rid of the body. Some say people fleed the scene after an incident with Stoney knowing that they could lose their life going up against him. Whatever the reason people was missing never to be heard from again and all the blame lay on Stoney. When Stoney walked into the diner all eyes was on him. Not because he he was immaculately dressed in a creamed colored beige three piece suit, but because his presence was so demanding and his aura so strong. He moved so sure of himself a person just knew he owned the place. He stopped at a few tables speaking to people. Then he went and sat at his table that was situated in a back corner of the restaurant. As soon as he sat down his head waitress came sashaying over. "Hey Stoney how are you doing?" She asked setting his drink on the table. But he wasn't paying no attention to her at all. His eyes were locked in on this beautiful pecan tan sister sitting at the bar looking like a real winner. He didn't know her and Stoney made it a priority to know every woman in Memphis. Either they sold pussy for him, worked or wanted to work for him. "Who's the girl at the bar?" He asked the waitress. She turned around and looked, then turned back to Stoney. "She came in about an half a hour ago. Had breakfast an order of coffee and been sitting there drinking it" she informs him. "Is she waiting on someone or here to see someone?" He asked. "No not that I know of. Like I said she just been sitting there." She tells him once more. Stoney got up from the table and walked over to the bar where the girl was sitting at. When he got closer to her he admired her long dark curly hair laying on her head in it's natural state. "Good morning" He said to her getting ready to sit in the seat next to her. When she looked up at him the girl had some of the most beautiful hazel brown eyes he had ever seen and he was mesmerized by them. The first thought in his head was that she could make a lot of money for him selling pussy on the streets of Memphis. "Good morning" she says back in a soft voice almost a whisper. "I hate to intrude on you but are you waiting for someone?" Stoney ask her. "No I'm not" she answers. "Well can I ask your name?" Stoney ask her. "Bridget" she answers. "Bridget huh? And what part of the world you from?" Stoney asked Bridget. "I'm from Pine Bluff" she tells him. Thinking that he automatically knew where it was. "Pine Bluff? Where's that at?" He asked. It's a little town in Arkansas" she says. "You way from Arkansas? What you doing in Memphis? He asked. "I just decided to get away from the country life. I wanted to see a city and Memphis was right here so here I am" she says with a smile that lit up the whole Memphis. Bridget was enjoying Stoney company he made her feel at ease. And he was quite handsome with his dark smooth skin. And he was impeccably dressed in his suit and tie. Stoney didn't know it but he was wooing her off her feet. Bridget didn't know it but she was in the presence of a very dangerous man. "Well being you don't know much about the city let me take the pleasure in showing you around the town" he says. I don't want to be a burden on you. You look like a very important man and you may have better things to do with your time." Bridget tells Stoney. "Believe me Bridget I have nothing better else to do. Plus I would honored to be in the presence of a beautiful woman all day." Stoney says. Melting any defenses that she would try to put up. "Well I have to pay my bill." She said. "Don't worry about it. It's already taken care of." Stoney says and she just looks at him. "Come on let's go so I can show you the town." He says and holds his arm out for her like the perfect gentleman. She stood up and took his arm in hers and they exited the restaurant and got in Stony Cadillac. Stoney rode through the whole city. Showing her places and taking her into places that belong to him, having a good time with her. It had been a long time since he relaxed and had a good time. Bridget just made him feel good. He figured by the end of the week he'd have her selling pussy for him. He knew if she made him feel good she'd make other men feel good too. After the evening was over with he dropped her off to her spot that she was staying in promising to see her again. He left her in wonder of who was this man that swept her off her feet. And as he drove back to attend his business wondering was he getting soft for a bitch. He couldn't deny it. It was something about that girl that made him feel some type of way. *****
