Maria's heart sank as she saw Marco approaching her. She knew that he was a part of the same mafia that had terrorized her in the past. She tried to run, but he was too quick, and before she knew it, she was cornered.

"Please, Marco, leave me alone," she begged.

But Marco just laughed.

"You thought you could run away from us?" he said, his eyes gleaming with malice. "You know too much, Maria. You can't just walk away from this life."

Maria felt the weight of despair settling in her chest. She had been so hopeful, so determined to start a new life, and now it seemed like it was all for nothing.

As Marco grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him, Maria knew that she had no choice. She had to fight back, or she would be lost forever.

With a sudden burst of energy, Maria kicked Marco in the stomach and ran towards the door. But Marco was quick, and he caught up to her just as she was about to open it. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her towards him, his face twisted in anger.

"You should have known better, Maria," he spat. "You can't just walk away from the mafia."

Maria closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable blow. But it never came.

Instead, there was a sudden commotion outside, and then the sound of police sirens.

In a blur of motion, the door burst open, and Maria was surrounded by a group of armed officers.

"Hands up, don't move!" one of them shouted.

Marco tried to make a run for it, but he was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Maria was left standing there, shaking and trembling, but alive.

Over the next few weeks, Maria cooperated with the police, providing them with as much information as she could about the mafia and their operations. It was a dangerous game, but she knew that it was the only way to keep herself and her new life safe.

But as she looked back on the past few months, Maria knew that it was all for nothing. Her dreams of a new life had been shattered, and she was back where she started, alone and afraid.

As the months turned into years, Maria found herself slipping back into old habits, back into the darkness that had once consumed her. She tried to fight it, but it was no use. And then, one night, she found herself back in the same alley where it had all started.

As she walked down the darkened streets, she saw the same figures lurking in the shadows, the same men with their dark suits and cold eyes.

Maria knew that it was the end. She had tried to escape, but it had all been for nothing. As she closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable, Maria couldn't help but think about her father. She wondered if he had known all along, if he had been trying to protect her in his own way.

But it didn't matter now. She was alone, and the mafia had caught up with her once again.

As the first blow landed, Maria closed her eyes, knowing that she would never open them again....
