HYDERABAD: It was a night of horror when the crime of passion unfolded in Nagarkurnool in which accused Swati and her lover Rajesh were caught in a tussle before the brutal murder.

Nagarkurnool: The district court has issued non-bailable arrest warrant against Swathi Reddy, the A-2 accused, involved in the sensational murder case of Sudhakar Reddy that took place two years ago in 2018. Earlier on Wednesday, Swathi Reddy who was on bail, was supposed to attend the court. However, the accused did not return to court hearing, hence Nagarkurnool district court had issued nonbailable warrant against her on Wednesday.

Swathi Reddy was the prime accused in murder case of her husband Sudhakar Reddy, a businessman in Nagarkurnool district, a few months ago. She was released on bail from Mahbubnagar district jail on Friday. As nobody from her family came to receive her, she was sent to a State home in Mahbubnagar town. Swathi Reddy, who admitted to plotting her husband's murder along with her paramour Rajesh, was arrested on December 10 last year. Since then she has been lodged in Mahbubnagar jail. She was given bail a few days ago, but nobody came forward to deposit guarantee on her behalf. However, police released her on bail in 2020.

HYDERABAD: In the sensational M Swathi Reddy's case in which a woman murdered her husband, M Sudhakar Reddy, in Nagarkurnool of Telangana, to live with her paramour, a bowl of mutton soup played a key role in uncovering the murder plot.

Inspired by a Telugu movie "Yevadu", in which a plastic surgeon gives an injured youngster another man's face, Swathi Reddy (27) hatched a plan to kill her husband with the help of her lover B Rajesh, who is a physiotherapist.

They executed the plan by injecting anaesthesia to Sudhakar on November 27. After he fell unconscious, the duo hit him on his head with an iron rod, resulting in Reddy's death. Later, they burnt his body in the forests.

According to police, in order to execute her plan of projecting her paramour as her husband, Swathi poured a small quantity of acid on Rajesh's face. Then, she informed her husband's parents and relatives that unknown persons had attacked Sudhakar. In the meanwhile, Rajesh was rushed to a hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors advised plastic surgery.

However, Sudhakar Reddy's relatives got suspicious when Rajesh (impersonating as Sudhakar) refused to have mutton soup served in the hospital. Rajesh told the hospital staff that he is vegetarian whereas the real Sudhakar Reddy was non-vegetarian.

Later, Sudhakar's relatives informed the police, who then interrogated Swathi. After being grilled by the police, Swathi confessed about killing her husband with the help of her paramour, Rajesh.

During the investigation, Swathi further admitted that they had even met a plastic surgeon in Sanga Reddy district, before killing Sudhakar Reddy.

Later, Sudhakar's relatives informed the police, who then interrogated Swathi. After being grilled is a by the police, Swathi confessed about killing her husband with the help of her paramour, Rajesh.

While Swathi has been arrested by police, Rajesh is being treated in the hospital for burn injuries on his face. Police said they would arrest Rajesh too, once he gets discharged from the hospital.

Sudhakar Reddy and Swathi were married for three years and had a child.
