The Crazy People That Make Things Go Boom

I want to start this off by saying I don't mean any disrespect to any victims or families of the victims. I just think it's important to learn about horrible things. If we don't learn about history we maybe doomed to repeat it. This is just an overview; if you want more information on any of these people look into them.

Ted Kaczynski

Ted Kaczynski was also known as the Unabomber, and was so famous that SNL did a sketch about him. Ted was accused of mailing 16 bombs to people. He also set a bomb up in the parking lot of a computer store. This guy was a mathematics professor, and anarchist author, so he was smart. His reign of terror went from 1978 to 1995 during which he killed three people and injured 23 others. He was arrested in 1996, and was sentenced to eight life sentences. In prison he has made friends with Ramzi Yousef and Timothy McVeigh (the 1993 World Trade Center bomber, and the Oklahoma City bomber).

Richard Colvin Reid

Richard Colvin Reid also know as the shoe bomber, and a convert to Islam. He also joined al Qaeda. Three months after 9/11 Richard tried blow up a plane with a bomb he had placed in his shoe. He never got the bomb to detonate but was arrested. He is now in jail where he will stay for the rest of his life.

The Tsarnaev Brothers

The Tsarnaev brothers are also known as the Boston Marathon Bombers. They were originally from Russia, and one brother, Tamerlan, couldn't get his citizenship. The bombing killed three including a child, and they hurt over 170 people. They were 19 (Dzhokhar) and 26 (Tamerlan) at the time of the bombing. They had escaped in the chaos and aftermath of the bombing. They were also involved in a shooting, and a separate shootout with police. The shooting happened on April 18, 2013 at 10:48 PM. The shootout happened close to two hours later, which led to the death of Tamerlan. The shooting and shootout killed two others besides Tamerlan, and it also injured 16 people. With Tamerlan dead, Dzhokhar ran, but was found later that night in someone's boat. Dzhokhar was sentenced to death on June 24, 2015. There were appeals, but there was no information I could find about an actual date of execution.

Eric Rudolph

Eric Rudolph was also known as the Olympic Park Bomber. He was also an anti gay and anti-abortion bomber. Between 1996 to 1998 he killed two people, and injured over 120 others. On July 27, 1996 he bombed the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta during the Olympics. He also confessed to two abortion clinics (one in Georgia and one in Alabama), and a lesbian bar. The FBI wanted him so bad they offered a one million dollar reward for the tip that led to the capture of Eric. He spent five years in the Appalachian wilderness, hiding while there was federal and amateur search parties looking for him. While he was in hiding, his brother Daniel sent a video to the FBI of him cutting off his hand, which was later reattached. Eric was arrested on May 31, 2003. As a part of his plea deal he told the FBI where they could find 250 pounds (110 kg) of dynamite. He was sentenced in two different courts to two life sentences each (four in total). Eric was charged in two different courts because he committed crimes in two different states (Alabama and Georgia).

I may do a part two later, so I can cover more bombers and terrorists.
