Crypto Murders: Without Teeth
Kim points out clues.
“Alright. We have seven victims. We don’t know what happened or their condition. We have a decidedly crafty perp. He has taken all of the similar patterns of serial kidnappers right now. He hasn’t slipped up and we need to know and pinpoint his exact location.” Kim said all this with an iciness that she seemed like she felt almost annoyed personally.
The agents combed through social media accounts. They found messaging services that hinted at the correct answer, but then floated away into the electronic atmosphere. They used the power of the Internet some more when they tried to track the many transmissions coming from locations in Wilmington and Delaware. Since they couldn’t track calls or listen in on conversations they found the streets with their minds intent on finding their offender.
“Whoever it is, they must be in crypto, too. I don’t understand a lick of it. He had to have put time in as a crypto engineer or something,” Darby said.
Kim shook her head. “No, not necessarily. A very small percentage of the population actually knows about the exchange. I doubt he was even on the WiSE.”
St. Kitts looked determined. He drove across town and placed his left hand on the wheel at twelve o’clock. He pulled into an open lot.
“This was the last place that our second victim had been, the last time she was seen. She lived by herself with no one else. When she came up missing, she had with her the keys to her car. A Faldo with brand new stickers on it.” Kim walked in a diagonal direction.
“If she was picked up…here, we might get a better reading into where she is and the other women.”
Darby scratched the back of his head. He put on the gloves he had in his back pocket. “This looks peculiar,” he held up a broken piece of a keychain. Kim marched over to him and observed the find.
“That’s magnificent. Perfect,” she smiled. “I mean I’m obviously not official but I am looking forward to investigating with you both further down the line,” Kim said.
St Kitts and Darby exchanged wry smiles without teeth. “You’re here to guide us to clues like this one. I only found it because you pointed out the problem in the first place.”
The three of them took their own time and called in uniforms and CSI to cover the ground on which they stood. They all looked ready to call in the whole thing. They had been working for fourteen hours. It made sense to them that they should even try to hunt down this violator. It didn’t matter the hours put in the day. They knew that they would come up with something of substance.
“You’re not eating your king crab. It’s very expensive. And your lobster’s getting cold, too. I mean take your time but hurry up at the same time. You look so pretty in your new dress. It’s modeled after Sleeping Beauty. You can be like my other sleeping beauties. They enjoyed their meals. I want you to do the same. Bao spit the food in his face. He was taken aback.
“Wow I see we want to spend the day in the dark tomorrow,” he said wiping his face with his towel.
“You’re going to like that, too. You’ll just have water and saltines since you don’t wish to eat this cuisine. You’ll stay in complete darkness for seventy-two hours.”
A blank face told a story of a woman not about to die. She followed the orders to be locked in the dark room with just a bucket, some wipes, and a bottle of water and crackers next to her.
