When we hear about a crime on the news, we often see images of yellow tape cordoning off the area. This tape denotes the boundary between the crime scene and the outside world, and is a crucial part of the investigation process. As a forensic science student, I had the opportunity to observe a real crime scene investigation, and it was a fascinating and eye-opening experience.

The crime in question was a robbery that took place at a convenience store. The store clerk had been held at gunpoint and the perpetrator had made off with the cash register. The police had been called and arrived at the scene shortly after the crime had occurred.

When I arrived at the crime scene, the first thing I noticed was the yellow tape. It was wrapped around the entire storefront, and police officers were stationed at either end. There was also a mobile crime lab parked outside, which was used to process evidence.

I was allowed inside the crime scene with the forensic team. We put on gloves, shoe covers, and hairnets to avoid contaminating the evidence. The first thing we did was take photographs of the scene. This included wide shots of the entire store, as well as close-ups of specific areas.

Next, we began to collect evidence. We used cotton swabs to collect DNA samples from the gun and the cash register. We also used tweezers to pick up any small pieces of evidence, such as hair or fibers. The evidence was carefully labeled and packaged to ensure it would not be contaminated or damaged.

As we collected evidence, we also documented the crime scene. This involved making sketches of the store and marking the location of evidence with small flags. We also took notes on our observations, such as the position of the gun and the direction of the bullet holes.

One of the most interesting parts of the investigation was speaking with witnesses. The store clerk had been traumatized by the incident, but was able to provide us with a description of the suspect. We also spoke with customers who had been in the store at the time of the robbery, and were able to provide us with additional information.

After several hours, the forensic team had collected all the evidence and documented the scene. The next step was to transport the evidence to the lab for analysis. This would involve DNA testing, fingerprint analysis, and ballistics testing to determine the type of gun used.

The investigation would continue for several weeks, and would involve interviewing suspects and analyzing phone records. However, the crime scene investigation was a crucial part of the process. The evidence we collected would be used to build a case against the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

As I left the crime scene, I was struck by the amount of work that goes into a single investigation. It was clear that every detail, no matter how small, was important to the investigation. The forensic team was meticulous in their work, and it was clear that they took their jobs very seriously.

In conclusion, a crime scene investigation is a complex and fascinating process. It involves a team of experts who work tirelessly to collect evidence, document the scene, and build a case against the perpetrator. It is a crucial part of the criminal justice system, and without it, many crimes would go unsolved. Crime is huge study and it has a great vision in future it is the only thing which will be remain important until this world exist and it cannot be completely vanished from the world.
