At some point, he let his family know that he was moved by his dad's spirit, who encouraged him the ways of accomplishing a decent life. Beginning around 2007 he had been keeping a journal on his dad's "guidelines". On the morning of 1 July 2018 (at around 7:15 am), the neighbor Gurcharan Singh, who used to continue morning strolls with one of the departed, went to the Chundawat home. He had seen Lalit Chundawat's nonattendance for the morning stroll, as well as the way that the Chundawat's shops were as yet not opened. The shops typically opened somewhere in the range of 5 and 5:30 am. Gurcharan Singh found the entryway of the house open and the ten individuals, including Lalit Chundawat, hanging. He raised an alarm by calling different neighbors. Police got the call around 7:30am. Ten of the eleven individuals - two men, six ladies and two youngsters - were tracked down balancing in the yard of the house. They were blindfolded and their mouths were taped. A portion of the bodies had their options and feet limited. Another lady, 80-year-old Narayani Devi, was tracked down dead in another room. It created the impression that she had been choked. Individuals from the family were found swinging from a lattice in their roof in the foyer, all near one another. Police found 11 journals in the house, every one of them kept up with for a considerable length of time. Joint Magistrate of Police (Wrongdoing) Alok Kumar expressed: "We have found manually written notes itemizing how hands and legs are to be tied and are very like how the groups of 10 people were found. They are thorough notes and we are concentrating on them." Subtleties written in the journals match how the bodies were found, with their countenances covered, mouths taped, and cotton balls in ears. The bodies were found balanced in clumps of three, which is what the journals likewise state. The journal expressed that the Bebe (old lady) couldn't stand and thus ought to lay on the bed, which was steady with the revelation of her being found choked on the bed.The journal likewise makes reference to: "everybody will limit their own options and when the kriya (custom) is done then everybody will help each other unfasten their hands", demonstrating that the family was not hoping to bite the dust. Penmanship examination uncovered that these journals were composed by Priyanka (the little girl of Pratibha) and Nitu (the senior girl of Bhuvnesh), however were evidently directed to Lalit by his late dad's soul.
