A Rajasthan Police constable leaving home and suddenly disappearing would ordinarily trigger an urgent search. But the Abhishek Sharma murder case became far more complicated than a routine missing-person investigation.

Abhishek Sharma, a constable posted with the Bundi Police, disappeared on August 28, 2019. For months, his family and investigators had no clear answer about what had happened to him.

What initially appeared to be a mysterious disappearance eventually led police to Sawai Madhopur, a ruined fort and a disturbing allegation involving people Abhishek knew personally.

Abhishek Sharma Goes Missing

According to contemporary reports, Abhishek left his home in Bundi on the evening of August 28, 2019.

One report stated that he told his family not to prepare dinner for him because he expected to return the following day. Later that night, his mobile phone was switched off.

When Abhishek failed to return, his family started searching for him. A missing-person report was subsequently registered with police.

Days passed without any major breakthrough.

Then weeks passed.

For investigators, one of the biggest questions was simple: where had Abhishek actually gone on the night he disappeared?

The Investigation Turns Toward Sawai Madhopur

Police reportedly began examining Abhishek’s contacts and mobile-phone records.

The investigation eventually focused on Shyama Sharma, described in news reports as a cousin of Abhishek’s wife, Divya.

Police said their investigation indicated that Abhishek and Shyama had previously been involved in a relationship. Reports also stated that the situation had created serious problems in Abhishek’s marriage.

Investigators later also focused on Naved Rangrez, who was reported to have been in a relationship with Shyama.

This complicated personal relationship became an important part of the police theory behind the disappearance.

The Mobile Locations That Changed the Case

One of the most significant developments reportedly came from mobile-location analysis.

According to a report quoting Bundi police officials, investigators examined the locations of around 200 mobile phoneswhile trying to reconstruct what happened.

Eventually, police allegedly discovered three phones whose locations placed them around Vijaygarh Fort near Bonli in Sawai Madhopur during the relevant period.

That information gave investigators a location they could focus on.

After questioning Shyama and Naved, police said the missing-person investigation turned into a murder investigation.

What Police Alleged Happened at Vijaygarh Fort

According to police statements reported at the time, Shyama allegedly asked Abhishek to come to Bonli on August 28.

The police version of events alleged that Abhishek later went with Shyama and Naved to the area around Vijaygarh Fort.

Investigators claimed that Abhishek was attacked with an iron pipe and killed.

His body was then allegedly buried near the ruined fort.

It was an extraordinary development: a police constable who had been missing for more than three months had allegedly been lying buried while investigators continued searching for him.

How Investigators Say the Evidence Was Hidden

Police also alleged that attempts were made to prevent investigators from discovering what had happened.

Reports stated that Abhishek’s motorcycle was thrown into a well, while some of his clothing was left near a pond.

His phone SIM was also reportedly discarded.

Investigators believed these actions were designed to create confusion over Abhishek’s whereabouts and possibly make authorities search elsewhere.

For months, that uncertainty appears to have worked.

Abhishek Sharma’s Body Is Finally Found

The biggest breakthrough came in December 2019.

After questioning the suspects, police reached an area near Vijaygarh Fort and recovered a badly decomposed body that was identified in contemporary reports as Abhishek Sharma.

By then, approximately 110 days had passed since his disappearance.

Police arrested Shyama Sharma and Naved Rangrez in connection with the case.

At that point, what had begun as the mystery of a missing Rajasthan Police constable had become a murder investigation.

What Was the Alleged Motive?

Police statements published at the time linked the alleged killing to the complicated relationship between Abhishek and Shyama.

Investigators claimed Shyama wanted to end her relationship with Abhishek, while Abhishek allegedly continued pursuing the relationship.

Police alleged that this conflict eventually resulted in a plan to kill him with Naved’s assistance.

It is important to distinguish the police allegations reported during the investigation from a final judicial determination. Arrests and investigative claims do not by themselves establish guilt, and any final legal responsibility depends on court proceedings and evidence presented before the judiciary.

Why the Abhishek Sharma Case Still Attracts Attention

The Abhishek Sharma murder case contains several elements commonly associated with complex true-crime investigations: a sudden disappearance, personal relationships, changing theories, discarded evidence and the eventual use of mobile-location data.

Perhaps the most striking part is how long the mystery continued.

For around three and a half months, investigators searched for one of their own.

The case ultimately demonstrates how digital evidence can become crucial when traditional searches provide few answers. A phone that stops working may appear to end a trail, but location records and patterns involving other devices can sometimes reconstruct movements that occurred months earlier.

Abhishek Sharma’s disappearance therefore became more than a Rajasthan missing-person case. It became a disturbing murder investigation whose key breakthrough reportedly came from connecting personal relationships with digital-location evidence.
