When people hear the names of the most notorious criminals, they cringe a little. Well, what about the criminals that not many people have heard about? What will they do when they hear those names?

The Milwaukee Cannibal/The Milwaukee Monster. Jeffrey Dahmer was an American serial killer and sex offender who commited the murders and dismemberment of 17 boys/men from 1978 to 1991.

Our first serial killer was born on May 21 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to his parents Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. From what his parents could tell, he was a happy, energetic and full of life child. At the age of 4 everything changed for little Jeffrey and his parents. He was given surgery for a double hernia, after that he was noticeably different. He withdrew from his family when his little brother was born and with the families frequent relocating. Come his early teen years, he was disengaged, tense and had little to no friends. Dahmer had explained in a interview that his complusions towards necrophilia and murder began at age 14, but digging deeper into it, it was found that these feelings stemmed from his parents divorce. Dahmer had then turned to alcohol which had spun out of control. He dropped out of Ohio State University after one quarter of a term and his recently remarried father insisted that he join the army. Dahmer inlisted in december 1978 and was sent to Germany shortly after. The Army discharged him due to his drinking problem in 1981.

Dahmer's first murder was just after he graduated high school in June of 1978 when he picked up hitchhiker Steven Hicks and took him home to his parents house. Dahmer tot Hicks drunk and when he tried to leave, Dahmer killed him by striking him over the head and strangling him with a barbell. Dahmer dismembered the corpse, packed the body parts in plastic bags and buried them behind his parents home. He later exhumed the remains, crushed the bones with a sledge hammer and scattered them across a wooded ravine. Dahmer waited until September 1987 to take his second victim. Steven Tuomi. They checked into a hotel room and drank, Dahmer eventually woke up to find Tuomi dead, with no memory of activities. He bought a large suitcase to transport Tuomi's body to his grandmothers basement where he dismembered and masturbated on the corpse before disposing of the remains. After Dahmer had killed another two victims at his grandmothers, she would kick him out for the late night drunkenness in 1988.

The summer of 1989, Dahmer had an extremely lucky escape. Dahmer had an encounter with a 13 year old boy who he thought looked much older. Dahmer ended up with sexual exploitation and second degree sexual assult. While waiting for sentencing for the case, Dahmer once again used his grandmothers basement to lure, drug, strangle, sodomize, photograph and dismember Anthony Sears. Dahmer recieved a one year sentencewith "day release" allowing Dahmer to work during the day and return to the prison at night as well as a five year probationary sentence.

Over the next two years after his release, Dahmers body count accelerated bringing his total from 4 to 17. He delveloped rituals, experimenting with chemical means of disposal and often consuming the flesh of his victims. He also attempted lobotomies, drilling into his victims skulls while they were still alive and injecting them with muriatic acid.

On May 27 1991, Dahmers neighbour called the police to report an Asian boy running naked in the street. When police arrived, the boy was incoherent. The boy who had escaped from Dahmer was the older brother of the 14 year old Dahmer had molested years earlier. The police escorted both Dahmer and the boy home not looking further into anything. Once the police left the scene, Dahmer killed the boyand proceeded with his usual rituals. Had the police conducted even a basic search they would have found the body of Dahmers 12th victim. Tony Hughes.

Dahmers killing spree ended when he was arrested on July 22 1991. The body parts found in Dahmer's fridge and polaroid photographs of his victims became associated with his notorious killing spree. Police were led to Dahmer by 32 year old Tracy Edwards who was found wandering the streets with handcuffs dangling from his wrist. They decided to investigate the mans claim of "some weird dude" had drugged and restrained him. They arrived at Dahmers appartment where he camly offered to get the keys for the handcuffs. When police went into the bedroom to find a knife they found polaroid photographs of dismembered bodies lying around. Dahmer was subdued by officers. Subsequent searches revealed a head in the fridge, three more in the freezer and a bunch more horrors, including preserved skulls, jars containing genitalia, and an extensive gallery of photographs.

Dahmer's trial began in January 1992. Dahmer initially pleaded not guilty to all charges despite having confessed too all killings during interrogation. He eventually changed hius plea to guilty by virtue of insanity. The jury cose to believe he was fully aware his acts were evil and he chose to commit them anyway. On February 15 1992, they returned after approximately 10 hours to find him guilty, but sane, on all counts. He was sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms in prison with a 16th term tacked on in May.

Jeffrey Dahmer was killed on November 28 1994 by his fellow inmate Christopher Scarver.
