Woman's Identity

Our functions are not our identity.

Your radiance is electricity that pulses from within, a divine current that moves from your core and magnifies through every cell of your being.

A radiant woman is grateful and therefore she is an open woman, a trusting woman, a heart-led woman, a playful woman, and a receptive woman. She receives the gifts and the lessons. She knows how to hold herself and how to be held. She’s unafraid to be imperfect, vulnerable, and wildly exposed. She allows her feelings to fuel her, not consume her. She trusts God is always resurrecting a miracle from her mess and that everything is made beautiful in its time. She holds hope for the unseen and dances in life’s great mystery.

She is devotional, not demanding, soft yet still powerful, present, not passive, innocent, yet full of wisdom, infinitely cherished, chosen, and loved.

A radiant woman knows her worth is not something she reaches for. It is what she declares she already is. Her radiance is not created from the outer, it’s cultivated from the inner. It will not be found through fancy dresses, make-up, achievements, and worldly measures of success and beauty. Her radiance inspires love to stretch where it hasn’t gone before as she descends into the way of the heart, truth, and grace

Let me explain woman’s identity.

The first term that was ever used to describe a woman in the Bible is Ezer Kenedo. This is important because this is the primary identity of females. This is our story and how we are divinely designed to hold space in our world. Ezer means ‘helper’. It is a term that God actually uses to describe himself. But in the scripture, it is used in a military context. God is a helper that comes along Israel as a warrior- now bowing in subservience... going to war ladies. And the word ‘Kenegdo’ was never seen again in the entire Bible. It is specific to women. ‘Kenegdo’ means ‘in front of’. It is an odd image of standing in opposition to man yet in perfect congruence.

Ezer Kenegdo is a woman who is whole and strong on her own and can face man as an equal in authority and fight alongside him in a way that he cannot do on his own. A force equal to man. She is wise and man trust her influence. She is empowered and holds the line against abuses of power. This term does not include wife or mother. Eve, the bearer of life, had this identity BEFORE she was married and BEFORE she had children. How powerful!

My sister, what makes you a woman is not producing children, being a wife or homestanding. Our functions are not our identity. What makes you a woman is your ability to inspire, expose and be strong enough to lift and fight.

We have a gift that is divinely unique to our kind that man cannot mimic and owning the truth of our identity will reinstitute our complexity and serve as a reminder that the world was incomplete without our power.

It’s also possible that just because it’s more socially acceptable, women are also psychologically more in touch with their emotions and are more likely to integrate hunches and logic.

BUT, a million tiny instances of self-betrayal, toxic social programming, trauma, religious indoctrination, and miseducation have caused us to lose trust in our superpower.

I am forever hoping women heal to become acquainted with their own guardian within. And to witness themselves as wise, autonomous, self-sustained individuals. The world needs women NOW. It needs restored women who are able to lift and fight. It needs women to stand up, discover the truth of their beauty, and destroy evil in the world.

Here are a couple of ways to reconnect with your intuition:

1. Hold the space to process your emotions and unpack your sensations, learning to put words to your instinctual knowing.

2. Without judgment, simply notice what happens in your “gut.” When the neurons in your gut fire up, you may feel “butterflies” or “icky.” Pay attention! It’s no accident we use the term intuition and gut feeling interchangeably because science has now shown us that our gut has a brain of its own.

3. Practice meditation, yoga, or mindfulness while inwardly posing questions. In the quiet space, call forward the truth that is within.

4. Pay attention to your energy levels: What drains you? What makes you come to life? As you approach your environment, certain exposures will stir up different neurotransmitters. And the way you feel after entering certain spaces is the story being told by either stress or peace through neurotransmitters.

5. Start testing your intuition with experiments of increasing bravery. And document the outcomes in your journaling.

Ladies, it is time to reconnect!
