Confession can be harsh

Ever since Ethan first laid eyes on Maya, he was head over heels. She was the girl of his dreams, and he knew it immediately. Every day, he’d muster the courage to speak with her. Every time, it was the same story. Maya would greet him with a friendly smile and run off to hang out with the cool kids in their school.

Ethan and Maya is in the same class, they know each other because Ethan say hi first to her and she is completely a nice and friendly girl. It's really good to have a crush that friendly because she will be easy to talk to and the relationship between them can be easy. In the other hand, friendly is not that cool, she can just hang out or talk to you right now, but a few minutes later she can with other guys, laughing, eating and do other stuff.

Ethan struggled and struggled to get her attention, but he always fell short because other guys always go to her first before him. He talked to her friends, gave her the occasional gift, and even joined some of her after-school clubs - but nothing seemed to resonate with her.

Finally, Ethan decided that he’d had enough. He had to get it off his chest and see what happens.

One day, as he walked her home, he took a deep breath and confessed his undying love for her. Maya turned to him, and with a smile, gently told him that she really appreciated his feelings but that she only thought of him as a friend.

The feeling was like getting a punch to the gut. Ethan’s eyes started watering involuntarily and he couldn’t find anything coherent to say.

He quickly scuttled off, avoiding eye contact and trying to hide his emotions. He felt a pang of nausea as he solo barged into his room and sobbed his eyes out.

Days passed, and it felt like he never truly left the confines of his bed. He was barely eating, and he couldn’t bring himself to go to school. He was brokenhearted, but he couldn’t show it.

His friends noticed the change in his behavior but didn’t know what was wrong. That is until Maya told them what had happened.

Suddenly, Ethan’s world was magnified tenfold. Everywhere he went, people would whisper and snicker behind his back. Some went with the flow and tried to be nice to him while others said some really cruel things.

Feeling like he couldn’t take it any longer, Ethan decided to make amends. He invited Maya to an after-school study session and laid out his heart before her. He apologized for making things weird between them and assured her that he wouldn’t harass her again.

Looking back at him, Maya warmly gave him a smile and a grin on her face. “That’s alright Ethan,” she replied candidly, “I know that you didn’t mean any harm. It was just the wrong timing.”

While still hurt in a way, Ethan couldn’t help but see how much he really liked Maya from what she said. He realized then that some things just don’t go our way and our best actions that we can make is to hold our chin up high and dust ourselves off.

Life is too short to waste away with remorse, regret, and mourning. The best thing that you can do is shrug it off, hold your head high, and focus on the things that matter most. Eventually, things have a way of working themselves out.
