One Childhood, Two Realities
I was living in a society within a society. There was the UK, and then there was the community I grew up in — two completely separate worlds with their own rules. It hit me one afternoon as I walked home with my friend after school. She was excitedly talking about her upcoming 16th birthday party, showing off her new top and describing the gifts she was getting. As I listened, I suddenly realised how different our lives were, even though we lived just ten minutes apart.

Recognise Your Own Existence
Recognise Your Own Existence Your greatest strength lies in recognising your own existence. At times, life may feel overwhelming. You might wonder, "Can I really achieve anything significant?" Circumstances may seem unfavourable, challenges unending, and the weight of responsibilities unbearable. You may feel powerless against the adversities you face. But these thoughts are often illusions—tricks of the mind. Within your existence lies all the strength you need to overcome any obstacle life throws your way. When you acknowledge the power within you, your life can transform. Every struggle, every challenge, becomes an opportunity if you choose to see it that way. While external support is often necessary, your true strength resides within—rooted in your confidence, self-esteem, and determination. The greatest adversary you face often comes from within. Negative thoughts, doubts, fears, and anxieties can trap you, making it harder to move forward. Yet, when you challenge these thoughts and awaken the strength within, new paths open. What you focus on magnifies. If you dwell on doubts, they grow. But when you approach life with confidence, you unlock possibilities at every turn. Recognising and embracing your strength empowers you to weather any storm. Your existence is not just physical; it is also mental and spiritual. Your thoughts, motivation, and willpower combine to create transformative change. Consider this example: imagine a seed buried deep in the soil. It could remain dormant, overwhelmed by the weight of the earth above it. But when it recognises its potential, it begins to sprout, pushing through the soil, inching towards sunlight. This small, seemingly insignificant seed grows into a mighty tree, capable of weathering storms, providing shade, and bearing fruit. Similarly, within you lies the power to grow, evolve, and thrive—regardless of your circumstances. When you think, “I can’t achieve this,” your internal strength should remind you otherwise. And when you say, “I can do this,” your existence aligns with your efforts, propelling you towards success. For instance, Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, faced countless failures before achieving success. He could have given in to doubt after a thousand unsuccessful attempts. Instead, he recognised his inner strength and famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” This belief in his own ability led to the invention that revolutionised the world. Another example is Helen Keller, who overcame the limitations of being deaf and blind to become an author, activist, and lecturer. Her unwavering belief in herself, coupled with the guidance of her teacher Anne Sullivan, demonstrated that recognising one’s inner strength can lead to extraordinary accomplishments. Your existence is powerful. You are not just a body or a mind; you are a combination of limitless potential and resilience. When you accept and harness this power, no problem or challenge can stand in your way. The journey begins with self-awareness. Pause and reflect on the moments in your life where you’ve shown strength, resilience, or courage. Those moments are evidence of the power you hold. Strength doesn’t mean the absence of fear or doubt—it means moving forward despite them. Finally, remember: your existence is your greatest power. Trust in it. The strength within you is boundless and priceless. When you recognise this, life becomes a gift, and every challenge becomes an opportunity to shine. Embrace your strength, and watch as you turn the impossible into the achievable.

Kids are exposed to violent war images: how you can protect them.
While media can open the door to learning and connections for children, it also carries the risk of exposure to violence. News media in particular poses risks with stories of war, genocide, violent deaths, terrorism and suffering covered repeatedly in a 24-hour news cycle. Research shows that violence and crime receive disproportionate media coverage. And this is partially because we are drawn to these stories; negative news headlines have been found to receive more engagement and clicks than positive ones.

'ARTS NOT FARTS". Content Warning.
This story was written to create a scenario of life that is not perfect, but my glass is half full. This story is written as a reflection of how gaslighting folks is not cool. I did not write it out of anger or fear or hate, I wrote it out of love for humanity. I author stories, create songs to hopefully help someone along the way. I worked in nursing off and on in my life from 1969 to 2000. At the same time, I was taking care of people, I was attending college in Business, Journalism, and art.

Understanding Others Is Impossible Without Understanding Yourself
Understanding Others Is Impossible Without Understanding Yourself In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we interact with countless individuals, sharing ideas, expressing emotions, and exchanging thoughts. But have you ever paused to consider the key to truly understanding others—their struggles, joys, and situations? The answer lies within ourselves: the ability to understand others stems from first understanding oneself. We often fail to grasp our inner thoughts, emotions, and circumstances, making it incredibly challenging to empathise with others.

Being understood or Being accepted
On the back of so many conflicts and misunderstandings with my peers, I always felt like the issue was miscommunication. I thought to myself that maybe I am not expressing myself in the right way, maybe my communication isn’t the best and so this person isn’t able to understand me. I tried my best to communicate my ideas with much more clarity every time, whether they were political views or my opinions on how I think things should be done in a project. Unfortunately, every attempt led to just more debate, and inevitably an argument ensued. With time I have come to understand that it isn’t a problem of miscommunication, the other person understands me and what I am saying but they prefer to be at odds with me.

Love Yourself: The Greatest Task of Your Life Your life is a beautiful story where you are the protagonist. However, in the hustle of fulfilling responsibilities and meeting the expectations of others, we often lose sight of ourselves. In this endless race, our feelings, joys, and needs take a backseat. Do you ever pause and ask yourself, “Am I truly happy?” For most of us, this question doesn’t find its way into our busy lives, let alone its answer. This realisation reveals a harsh truth — we’ve forgotten who we truly are.

Accepting Your Mistakes
Accepting Your Mistakes Mistakes are an inseparable part of life. Every individual makes mistakes, as they often mark the beginning of a learning journey. However, how many of us have the courage to admit them? Often, we try to hide our errors or blame others instead of accepting them. This approach, however, only deceives ourselves. The true mark of humanity lies in acknowledging one's mistakes, which is also the foundation of genuine wisdom. Every mistake presents an opportunity to learn. As children learning to walk, we fell countless times. Yet, those falls did not instill fear; they taught us to rise again and try harder. Similarly, in life, the lessons we learn from our mistakes propel us forward. However, as adults, we often avoid admitting our mistakes, opting instead to shift blame. This tendency complicates our lives further. Consider the story of Ramu, a farmer in a small village. Ramu decided to adopt new technology to improve his crops. Unfortunately, due to a lack of proper understanding, his entire harvest failed. Initially, Ramu found it difficult to accept his error. He blamed external factors and others for his loss. But over time, he realised that the mistake was his own. Once he admitted it, he started afresh with renewed effort and determination. The villagers admired his honesty and supported him. The following year, his hard work bore fruit, and his fields flourished. Admitting mistakes fosters maturity. Acknowledging mistakes does not signify failure; instead, it reflects an honest attempt to recognise one’s shortcomings and improve. Self-reflection helps us understand our errors, boosting confidence and clarity. Conversely, hiding mistakes can strain relationships, disrupt peace of mind, and hinder personal growth. Mahatma Gandhi is an inspiring example of someone who openly admitted his mistakes. In his autobiography, Gandhi candidly acknowledged his errors. He grew as an individual by learning from them, which made his life a beacon of inspiration. His honesty and humility reinforced his strength and character. Accepting mistakes is not merely about admitting them; it is also about taking steps to rectify them and striving for success. Mistakes, when concealed, become burdens that weigh us down. But once accepted, they transform into valuable lessons that guide us. For instance, in the professional world, leaders who own their mistakes and rectify them often gain the trust and respect of their teams. An executive who admits to a failed strategy and works collaboratively to find solutions builds credibility. Employees, in turn, are inspired to follow their example, fostering an environment of honesty and improvement. Similarly, in relationships, admitting a mistake strengthens bonds. Imagine a friend who unintentionally hurts another’s feelings. By apologising and acknowledging their error, they not only repair the relationship but also deepen the trust and understanding shared. On the contrary, denying or dismissing the mistake could lead to resentment and weaken the connection. Mistakes, when viewed positively, are stepping stones to success. Every error teaches something valuable—be it patience, resilience, or new perspectives. As the saying goes, "Failure is the stepping stone to success." Each misstep provides an opportunity to climb higher, provided we have the courage to take the next step. The act of acknowledging mistakes also sets a strong example for others, especially children. Parents and teachers who admit their mistakes teach children the importance of accountability. This cultivates humility and the willingness to learn, essential traits for personal and professional growth. One of the most profound outcomes of accepting mistakes is the peace of mind it brings. Guilt and denial can be exhausting, while honesty fosters clarity and relief. By admitting and addressing mistakes, we free ourselves from the weight of pretense, paving the way for genuine self-improvement. In conclusion, embracing mistakes is not a sign of weakness but a testament to strength. Each mistake carries the potential for growth, provided it is met with honesty and effort. By learning from our errors, we lay the foundation for a meaningful and successful life. "Accept your mistakes, learn from them, and make your life more purposeful. A person who learns from their mistakes becomes truly wise. Each mistake is a step toward success—just be prepared to climb with confidence." Indeed, progress begins with recognising our errors, correcting them, and moving forward with renewed vigour. After all, the road to success is paved with the lessons we learn along the way.
