Growing Up pt. 1

Growing up is realizing you can go buy an entire sheet cake with no other reason than you want to and eating whatever amount you want,

Growing up is realizing that stretching is probably important,

It is coming to the terms that when you are single, nobody is ever going to be in the same phase as you.

Growing up is realizing how special having sleepovers were when you were younger.

Growing up is having to go to a tire shop all on your own,

It is realizing that first love was never going to work out.

Growing up is comprehending that sometimes it's best to have people leave your life,

Growing up is wanting to find a person to do life with, without losing yourself in the process,

It is seeing your parents become more unable while you are becoming your most capable.

Growing up is having some friends bonded by history more than commonalities,

Growing up is learning and setting your boundaries, usually the hard way,

It is long road trips, alone.

Growing up is having to plan something with friends' months out because everyone is engrossed in their own lives, (understandably),

Growing up is realizing you are in only the second quarter of a 4-quarter game of life - if you're lucky,

It is fearing you might not find your love of your life before your grandma dies.

Growing up is buying socks in bulk because your washer machine somehow eats them every 6 months.

Growing up is justifying paying someone else to do it out of convenience,

It is learning your partner is not supposed to be your everything, and that you should have friends to fill the things they are not.

Growing up is outgrowing friendships that become stale and finding new people with similar interests as you,

Growing up is saying goodbye to someone instead of sticking with them because you feel lonely or don't want to lose another person,

It is making the mistake and giving someone, you love money with the expectation of their character, that they will pay you back,

Growing up is realizing eight hours of sleep is necessary for sanity,

Growing up is understanding that your first dream, won't be your last,

Growing up is adapting, constantly,

It is about is being more present, while still planning for the future.

Growing up is questioning why we have to eat or cook food every day,

Growing up is wondering on a golf course in the dark listening to Billie Ellish, while high, because sometimes it's nice to turn off your brain,

Growing up is constant choices,

It is accepting that you may never feel as in love as a first love.

Growing up is trusting there is a deeper, longevity love out there for when you are actually ready,

Growing up is feeling the most yourself you have ever been, while still lacking connection,

Growing up is going through food poisoning alone and on your own,

It is realizing you have passed the age of societies concept of beauty, and you won't experience those years again.

Growing up is valuing other people's times and skillset more,

Growing up is understanding everyone needs a person to talk to, but sometimes you have to take care of yourself first,

It is knowing how to mold yourself to other personalities.

Growing up is living away from your family, because the place you came from no longer holds your identity of who you are now,

Growing up is recognizing others love languages and applying them for a better relationship,

It is realizing the things you can't control, but understanding how you react is in your control.

Growing up is locking your keys in your car at least once,

Growing up is noticing the similarities within yourself, to who your parents are,

it is choosing to always have fruit in your house or whatever foods make you happiest.

Growing up is walking into a grocery store without a bag, then refusing to pay for one and carrying all your stuff out nuzzled in your arms,

Growing up, is understanding why your parents chose a safe and comfortable love over a passionate and romantic love,

It is always being aware of your surroundings.

Growing up is admitting, "okay maybe you are a messy person",

Growing up is knowing baths are the closest thing to a hug when you are lonely,

It is setting up a Roth IRA, because it's unlikely you're going to stick with a company's 401k plan till retirement.

Growing up is finding a way to be proud of yourself even if all you did was take a shower today,

Growing up is understanding, not everyone processes by talking it out,

It is compartmentalizing your memories, so you can move forward.

Growing up is understanding how someone could get lost along the way because life is challenging,

Growing up is letting go of preconceptions you were raised with and forming your own opinions,

It is choosing to spread love, when surrounded by hate.

Growing up is understanding that your body changes over years and to not beat up yourself for not fitting into those jeans you got freshman year of college,

Growing up is accepting someone as they are and not who you want them to be,

It is sharing subscriptions and phone plans with friends, because we all want the shows without paying for every single subscription,

Growing up is wanting to relive moments of the past, while continuing to only walk forward.

Growing up is appreciating the free things,

It is gaining new life skills while obtaining the ability to function.

Growing up is hitting a curb and taping your car back together,

It is being able to see the beauty between the pain,

It is acknowledging every year that passes, life doesn't stay the same.
