Kate took a sip of her first mimosa and felt it instantly touch every part of her insides. Kate had been wanting to go to Carroll Place for a while and finally got a reservation. For $28 you could get an entre and all you can drink mimosas and other brunch drinks for an hour and a half.

"Okay, so for you to really get your money's worth you'll want to drink at least four mimosas," Kate said as she raised her glass to take another sip, or rather, swallow. "Oh! And try not to finish your food before too quickly, sometimes if your food is gone they won't keep giving you drinks." Kate's eyes were wide as she looked at her friends. "Kate’s a professional bruncher, guys," Paul said. Kate giggled and took a long swig of her drink.

One hour later...

"Hear me out, if every athlete in the Olympics was doping, they would all be on the same playing field. Then we wouldn't have to worry about disqualifying anyone because everyone would be on drugs." Dan had a habit of coming up with the most ridiculous topics that ended up striking up the craziest conversations.

"What?! Noooo!" Paul half laughed half yelled.

"Oh my gosh," Kate said giggling and palming her face.

"How in the world do you think of these things?" Amanda asked

With a sloppy grin, Dan said "Who knows. But do you think it would work?"

The table erupted in laughter and the group moved from one weird topic to the next.

"Okay! We only have a half-hour left so when we get out next drink we should chug it." Kate said with a triumphant grin.

Hell yes.

I'm down.

Done.

The group agreed. The next round came, and the group immediately downed the drinks. The waiter, Kenny, who thanks to Kate and Paul's sweet-talking and endless compliments was extremely diligent in bringing more drinks nearly as soon as the glass was dry. "Oh my gosh I love you guys," Kenny said laughing "Another round?" Kate raised both her hands in the air and said "Kenny, you already know!"

With an unknown number of mimosas in their system, Kate's crew paid their bill, left a generous tip, gave Kenny a hug, headed back to Paul's apartment so Kate could get ready for the wedding.

"Dan! Catch me!" Kate said running at full speed towards Dan and jumping in the air. Somehow, Dan managed to catch Kate and swing her around plopping her back on the ground where Kate stumbled a few steps before regaining her balance. "Again! Again!" Kate jumped, Dan caught, and Paul took videos they would all be extremely disappointed in the next morning, but as far as they were concerned, in this very moment, they were graceful and flawless.

They sloppily tripped their way up the 3 flights of stairs and practically fell into Paul's apartment. Kate plopped herself down on the couch and the room immediately started spinning. "Wait, Kate, don't you have to leave soon?" Kate grabbed her phone squinting at the blurry screen she opened up uber and typed in the wedding address. "It says it will take me an hour to get there. So I just need to leave here in like 10 minutes. Maybe I'll just close my eyes for like 5 minutes. Kate fell onto the couch and felt herself falling into a deep sleep. "Um yeah, that's not happening," Dan said. He pulled her up from the couch and gave her shoulders a little shake.

Kate tried to focus on him through her half-opened eyes and drunken stupor. "Shit, we need to get her ready. She's definitely gonna be late." Everyone around her seemed to jump to action. Amanda, who was nearly as drunk as Kate, took her into Paul's room and helped Kate change into her dress. If a sober outsider was watching this scene they would see two giggle girls, tripping over each other and giggling while Amanda yanked the dress over Kate's head while she tried to stay upright.

When Kate and Amanda came out of the room Dan and Paul were talking to their friend Sydney on speakerphone. Sydney, who now lived in California is also going to the wedding and is planning on meeting Kate there.

"Yeah, she's really drunk, we're getting her ready and putting her in an Uber," Dan said in the voice of a drunk person trying to sound sober. "I need make-up!" Kate whined from the couch which she'd fallen back into "Hi Sydney!" Kate could hear Sydney laughing on the other end of the phone.

Paul emerged from the bathroom with Kate's make-up bag. "Hey Sydney, how do I put mascara on Kate's face?" Kate squinted one eye open and saw Paul standing over her with an open mascara tube the brushed poised in the air. Kate smiled at all her friends were doing to help her get ready. This is love, she thought.

"Oh my gosh, don't touch her face! Just send the makeup bag with her in the uber." Paul clumsily screwed the top back on and put it back in the bag. "Okay Kate, the uber is 2 minutes away," Dan said handing her a water bottle. Kate looked up at him and held out her phone "But, my phone is going to die." Dan grabbed the charger on the table, took both of Kate's shoulders in his hands, and said "Kate when you get in the uber drink this water bottle and say 'My phone is going to die, can you charge it?' Got it?" Kate just looked at him and said "I need help."

Dan half dragged, half carried Kate down to the uber and, threw her into the backseat. "Hey man, she had a little too much to drink at brunch but we got to get her to this wedding. Can you plug her phone in?"

"Yeah, no problem. Dan handed Kate the water bottle and said "Text us when you get there." Kate waved at Dan the way a baby waves when they're first learning. As the uber pulled away from the curb Kate said "Do you mind if I lay down until we get there? I went way too hard at brunch." The uber driver laughed and said, "Yeah, sleep it off, I'll wake you up when we get there." Kate gave a little smile as she drifted off to sleep. Only in New York is an uber driver completely unphased by a drunk person passed out in the back of their car at 1 pm in the afternoon on the way to a wedding.

At one point Kate woke up, chugged her water, and sent a Snapchat with a picture of her that said, "When you're drunk on your way to your friend's wedding." She asked if the Uber driver would wake her up when they were 10 minutes away. "Sure thing." He said. Kate laid back down and quickly fell back to sleep having no idea the repercussions that would result from that one drunken Snapchat.
