Here are 27 things I learned before I turned 27. My birthday is coming up soon and I thought it would be fun to write down my thoughts and share them with you all. Tell me what are some things you have learned over the years.

1. You can’t always win. At games, at life. You just can’t.

2. You won’t always want to win. Sometimes you’ll see the advantage in stepping back.

3. It’s okay to fall apart, just remember you have to get up at some point.

4. Drinking when you’re sad isn’t the smartest thing to do. This is self explanatory.

5. Investing in your health, your pets, your happiness.. it’s worth it.

6. If they don’t communicate, they simply don’t care enough to do so. It’s usually a them problem so try to not take it too personally.

7. Being the more emotionally mature person in a relationship will ruin it every time.

8. Taking care of yourself in every aspect is worth it. Take the extra few minutes a day needed to nourish your mind, body and soul.

9. You have to have boundaries. This feels like one I re-learn every year.

10. You’ll have ups that will feel so high and you’ll have downs that feel like you can’t make it out. You will make it out, though.

11. Some people truly can’t ever be in your life again, no matter how much you’ve forgiven them and they’ve grown.

12. You’re going to struggle. That’s a part of life. Figure out how you struggle and how you can manage during those time.

13. Your body will tell you when you need a break. Try to take one before this happens.

14. When you find what lights your soul on fire, keep doing it!! Job wise, hobby wise, friend wise.. keep those things that light you up extremely close.

15. That toxic relationship needs to be done with. Stop going back to them.

16. Death is permanent. Don’t act on fleeting feelings.

17. Don’t be afraid to admit defeat. You can quit and try something new. There’s no shame in admitting you weren’t up for the task.

18. Your friends are one of the biggest aspects of your life. Pick good ones.

19. Good friends will support you, love you and be there for the lows and highs. True friends won’t leave when things get hard.

20. It’s okay to make mistakes. Just admit you did and find a way to not make it again.

21. STRETCH. It will help your back, hips, everything. Do this daily.

22. Find what works for you and run with it. Journaling, working out, riding bikes, whatever helps you.. do it often.

23. Have fun but always remember you have this body for life. I’ve been paying for some things I did when I was younger and it’s always rough. Always.

24. Learn your friends love languages. For so long, I loved them in mine. It’s important to love them in theirs.

25. Just because you’re on the meds and in therapy, doesn’t mean you’re healed. You’re healing. You will be okay and these hard times will pass.

26. Give yourself grace. You’re going to make mistakes, you’re going to hurt yourself and others.. give yourself so much grace.

27. It’s perfectly okay to grow. I’ve outgrown a lot this past year and I am thrilled to see where this growth takes me.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed and maybe learned a lesson or remembered one you had forgotten. As always, the support is so appreciated.
