Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, is legendary. His time at the City for the past eight seasons has seen him win the league title six times, and this season he broke the record by winning it four times in a row. Something no other manager has done since the dawn of the English Premier League. While he is committed to leading Manchester City for the ninth season, he is nearing his contract expiration in 2025.

Speculations are going around about him leaving Manchester City after the 2024–2025 season. While the Spaniard has not explicitly stated his reasons, some speculate that he might be looking for a new challenge after a highly successful period at City. His departure will be a loss to Manchester City; he has transformed the club into Europe's greatest club.

Manchester City do not want the man from Catalan to leave; it is reported that they are likely working on a contract extension. Names like Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso have been mentioned as potential replacements. This upcoming season will be fascinating; all eyes will be on Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. Will he lead them to another Premier League title, a fifth in a row?

Since he joined Manchester City in 2016, they have been in contention for every major accomplishment, even winning the famous treble. Pep has also made Man City the best team in the English Premier League and Europe as a whole. Last season alone, five of the top ten Ballon d'Or contenders were from Manchester City.

This alone shows how he has turned the club into the most competitive club in Europe. His football impact goes far beyond the silverware. He instilled a philosophy of a possession-based style of play, with an emphasis on intricate passing and positional play. His managerial brilliance extends to his ability to develop young talent. Players like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden have flourished under his guidance.

A Decline or Remain Strong: Post Pep Guardiola Era

Pep Guardiola has made his intention to leave clear. However, Manchester City is hopeful that he'll reverse his decision and stay for years to come.

The departure will be a significant blow to the team, but they will not experience an immediate collapse. The squad features world-class talent with multiple options in almost every position. Even without Guardiola's tactical mastery, this depth will ensure City remains a force to be reckoned with in a couple of seasons.

The club has strong financial backing. This puts them in a position to attract talent. They have also created an atmosphere where new signings can seamlessly integrate into the existing system, minimizing disruption.

Guardiola's philosophy extends beyond his physical presence; his tactics are in the DNA of the grounds. Even when he is not around, they will be using his philosophy. The new manager can adapt and build upon this foundation, ensuring a smooth transition.

It's hard to find a genius with his level of relatability. Finding a successor who can replicate his tactical mastery and ability to motivate players is going to be difficult as well. Furthermore, the new man in charge will struggle to maintain the same level of tactical dominance. The players will take time to adapt to these changes, and this will lead to a period of inconsistency.

Also, without the constant drive and pursuit of perfection, the existing squad might lose some of its edge. Maintaining the same level of hunger and motivation will be crucial for continued success. It will be hard for City to continue their dominance without the long-time manager. This crumble might happen after a season or two, when Pep Guardiola has left.
