The figure reached into their coat pocket, withdrawing the envelope Sarah had handed over earlier. "Because you hold the key to exposing the truth," they said, their voice low and urgent.

With trembling hands, Sarah took the envelope, her fingers tracing the seal. "What truth?" she whispered, her heart pounding in her chest.

The figure's eyes bored into hers. "The truth about what really happened that night," they said, their voice barely above a whisper. "And the role you unknowingly played in it."

As the weight of their words sank in, Sarah felt a chill run down her spine. The pieces of the puzzle began to click into place, revealing a web of deceit and betrayal that stretched far beyond anything she could have imagined.
