locci strikes me as a mystery inside a riddle. She writes erratically, alternating between the dramatic and the poetic. You are left wondering and contemplating the passing of life as you read her highlights of her own African lifestyle, the writings of authors she admires, and the various subtleties of love.

She digs deep to find poetry with a soulful feel and shares it in her own distinctive way.

In this profound haiku/poem, she informs us that she flourishes in the face of hardship and inspires everyone who will listen.

To truly understand that something meant anything, one must lose something significant. Thus, when a woman weeps, someone hears her. If you're not the cause, then the universe is. Whoever hears, takes action. Keep the universe from acting. Since it will work against you.

My mother's day of my father's burial was the last time I saw puffy eyes. I glanced straight into her eyes and recoiled in disgust at the overt caterpillars, splashed all over her eyes like weeds on a neglected garden, as she grabbed a mouthful of the red upcountry loam dirt and dumped it in the grave with resigned acceptance.

My father died when I was a young boy. and unsophisticated. That was in the past, when I was convinced that crying was reserved for small people. not adults.

I pulled Elly's sleeve and asked, "Elly, who beat mother?" when my mother arrived at the funeral with red, puffy eyes.

"Explain what you mean." Elly, my older brother inquired, his gaze less on the inquisitive small kid whose understanding of death was as nonexistent as his understanding of life and more on the pit our father was sinking into.

"Her eyes," I remarked. "They're terrifying."

"People simply experience it when they lose someone they care about."

I discovered something that day that I was unaware of till ten years later. That even if you may not truly laugh with someone, hold their hand when they need it, give them a tissue when the waterworks start, or share empty vodka bottles with them, the waterworks will still hit when you wake up and discover they've disappeared. They'll strike hard, too.

locci became aware of a very significant lesson after realizing what she might have missed out on when a loved one passed away. She hopes that we always put this teaching into practice. Our responsibility is to give our loved ones our wholehearted support, hold them near, and cherish each day we get to spend with them.

Love and vulnerability

"I'll strive for advancement."

Gently

I'm gon' rip my skin off.

Show out my soft heart.

then descend to your level in pure

susceptibility

The way I love is a defiant act.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whoa!
The day I purchase a black Harrier color for myself
My legs will be shaved.
my thighs with steam
and redden my hair.
I'm going to slip into my tiny black dress.
I cram my feet into a pair of breathtaking six-inch heels.
I'm still not sure how important it is to wear underpants.
