The Graveyard Hotel
The feast stayed with me long after I had finished my last bite and the last soul had departed. The salmon fillet. The brownie, rich and indulgent. It was a meal I could only dream of having. As though they had known precisely what I desired. Just like my room and the dress I wore. This had to be the strange series of coincidences because how was this all possible? Here barely a full day, I was still a stranger to the hotel.

Jonas deals with a personal tragedy as he and Danny continue to hunt for the Bay City killer. Part 12 Jonas drove to the open park near where he lived. It was only a few blocks down the street from his house. From a distance, he could see the flashing lights of other responders. They were setting up a perimeter around the entire block-sized park. His nerves were frazzled. Fearing the worst, that it would be somebody he knew, Jonas pulled around a corner heading back toward the bay area. He got out and waited, being methodically slow about putting on his detective's badge.

Lou was disinterested and fed up with the local news about whatever local events of relative importance were taking place in the area, and had been playing over the airwaves more than the actual songs or radio programs themselves; silence was the better alternative in Lou’s mind. Lou looked over at his map spread out over the center console, then at the fuel gauge, then up at the road through the rain pelted windshield, and barely notices the glowing yellow sign- glowing a sickly shade of aged yellow like old books and barely visible painted black letters that have gone bone white in some areas from years of sun and weather -choked by thick vines of green ivy, in time to turn off into a gravel parking lot home to a couple gas pumps that look like metal rusted relics bleached by he sun despite the poor excuse of what vaguely resembles a roof made of plywood and chicken wire. He pulls up next to a powder blue rusted gas pump and parks.

The Graveyard Hotel
I ran my fingers over the envelope and along the edges of the black seal that secured the contents inside. There was no stamp and no return address. No such letter was found in my mailbox or even tucked in between the front screen door. The letter seemingly appeared out of nowhere on my kitchen table.
