It was a cold winter day up in the North Pole this year. Santa Claus had been so busy creating toys, reading lists, checking them twice, and even needing a break from the holiday preparation.

After a long day at the toy factory, Santa asked Rudolph if he wanted to join him for Santa’s favorite hobby. A game of golf at the Reindeer Golf Course. Rudolph was thrilled to be invited. He appreciated when Santa treated him like his partner and not just one of the reindeer.

Just as Santa grabbed his golf clubs back at his North Pole home, Mrs. Claus asked him what he was doing.

“I am off to play some golf with Rudolph,” Santa said very jolly.

“Well, I would like to come too. I am tired of baking cookies all day.”, said Mrs. Claus as she pulled off her apron.

“Wait a minute, I was hoping for some quiet time,” said Santa.

There was such a silence in the air that even the Elf on the shelf hid from the sight!

“What do you mean by that?” said Mrs. Claus.

“Nothing, dear, nothing,” Santa said as he returned from the house.

“I want to come with you and play a few holes,” said Mrs. Claus.

Santa saw that he was not going to get out of this. He apologized to Rudolph, who looked shocked by the turn of events.

“Let’s go, Mrs. Claus, and get some golf in before it starts snowing again. The Elves have been clearing the putting greens for me,” said Santa as he helped Mrs. Claus into their Christmas golf cart.

As the Claus made their way to the golf course, light snow began to fall from the frost-kissed sky. It was cold but not too bad for them. Santa and Mrs. Claus always wore fleece-lined long johns under their clothing.

“Mrs. Claus, let me help you with your backswing,” said Santa.

“Oh, Santa, this is so sweet of you to help me out,” said Mrs. Claus.

As Santa worked on Mrs. Claus’s swing, Mrs. Claus, with her rosy cheeks, was in pure heaven having spent time with him. Even though it was a little frigid out there, she loved being taught by her favorite golf instructor, Santa Claus.

Meanwhile, Santa’s elves were very busy shoveling off a blanket of snow that had fallen on the putting green.

“Oh, gingerbread snaps, come on, Santa, hurry up and have Mrs. Claus hit that golf ball!” said the grumpy old Elf.

“This snow is coming faster than Jingle Swiftcane’s fans get down to the front row of her concert!” said the other Elf. Trying to keep the snow off the putting green was becoming impossible.

“Look at Rudolph,” said the little Elf, who was having more fun helping with the snow, “He looks like he is having a blast.”

And he was. Rudolph, who had spent many other times with Santa and Mrs. Claus on the golf course, knew to pack the essentials.

Rudolph had enough time to cut a Christmas tree down for the reindeer logs, grab a hot chocolate at the snack shop, and even purchase two Pink Sparkling Peppermint Shirley Temples for Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Santa and Mrs. Claus enjoyed a few holes. Mrs. Claus thanked Santa for spending time with her, but she had to return for more cookie baking. Santa decided the snow was getting too heavy for more play, so he promised Rudolph they would go out tomorrow for another game.

The next day, Santa and Rudolph went out for a nippy round of golf. Santa was struggling to keep his golf ball straight. He found every nook and cranny on the golf course except the fairway. Rudolph was getting a little stressed out by how wild Santa’s swings were turning out to be.

Just as Rudolph was going to encourage Santa to hang up the golf clubs on the nearby Christmas tree for the day, Santa really got in trouble!

Santa’s golf ball found itself in the backside of Mr. Snowman!!!

“Wait one minute, Santa! What do you think you will try to do with that ball.” Mr. Snowman asked.

“I am going to punch the ball out like Tinsel Weather-Woods!” says Santa.

Santa moved this way and that, trying to find a clean way to pop the golf ball out. Rudolph began to get concerned. He hid behind Mr. Snowman because Rudolph didn’t want a red eye to match his red nose!

As Rudolph stood there, he noticed his hooves were getting wet.

Watch out Santa, this looks a little dangers for Mr. Snowman! Author’s illustration

“Please tell me you are melting from fear and not something else” whispered Rudolph to Mr. Snowman

“Of course, I am melting in fear!” said Mr. Snowman. “Please, I am a gentleman!”

Happily, Santa got out of the snowman hazard and returned to the golf course. When Santa finished his golf game, he told Rudolph they had time for some vacation before Christmas Eve. Since playing golf was difficult for Santa in these North Pole conditions, Santa wanted to fly to Florida for some golf there.

“I bet I have an easier time on the sunny golf course in Florida, said Santa to Rudolph.

“Boy, I hope so,” Rudolph asked as he packed Santa’s golf clubs.
