Redemption of Drowning

Chapter 1
There was only one person who mattered to him, and that was him.
Yes, he had got married but a wife was someone to clean, cook, and pay the bills.
When things went wrong it was always someone else’s fault, and he always made sure that he made sure he found someone to blame and at the very least shouted and belittled them in front of others.
He was an aggressive and incompetent bully.
Then his wife got pregnant, at first he said she had been cheating on him, but if he was the father it was her fault because she had not been on birth control.
When he decided he was going sea fishing she asked if he'd checked the weather and informed the Coast Guard and he said he had, just to shut her up, but he hadn’t.
Now he was out and the boat's motor had packed up, he’d run out of petrol. He didn’t know who to blame because this was all on him, but he would find someone to take it out on.
He tried to call his wife but saw his phone was down to 3% power, the stupid woman hadn’t charged his phone. He would have it out with her when he got home.
He sent a text.
“Boat’s motor failed, call coastguard, weather terrible, need help to get back.”
He waited.
Hours passed and the rain was so bad that the boat was sinking, water was coming in faster than he could bail it out.
He was going to go under if the Coast Guard did not turn up. He had never learned to swim and didn’t have any life belts (they were an unnecessary expense)

When his wife got the text she finally had an easy way out, she switched her phone off, home life would be so much better without him.

The boat was going under.
If only he had been nicer to his family and workmates, somebody would have cared for him, regret finally hit him.
Whether it was just selfishness or not he didn’t know but from waiting for the coast guard he was now waiting to drown.
The boat sank and took him with it …..

He woke up in a different body. He thought he died from Drowning. He woke up in a hospital bed.
“Mr. Williams, do you remember who you are?” The doctor asked him after examining him in the hospital bed.
“My name is not William. My Name is Danny Swift.” Danny answers the doctor.
“Your family is here and they have identified you as Paul Williams.” The doctor replied.
“That cannot be right. Call them In. My Wife is in deep #$%@#!!!!!”Danny Swift responded in Paul Williams’ body.
“Who is Paul Williams? The man my wife is having an affair with and maybe the father of the child she is pregnant with? He thought.
Danny waited for almost half an hour before Paul William’s family came in.
“Paul, Thank God you are alright.” Paul's mom spoke with relief.
“Who are you, lady? My name is Danny Swift! Get out of here all of you!!! Danny shouted at the strangers in his hospital room.
Everyone left the room in confusion. They went outside the room and spoke to the doctor in charge.
“Calm down everyone this is a hospital. I think your Paul is having some sort of temporary Amnesia. You need to be patient and try not to upset him in any way.”
Danny was able to get up from his bed and go to the bathroom. He looked in the mirror after using the toilet to relieve himself. He thought something happen to his penis, it was larger than it used to be. Maybe the hospital gave him the wrong operation?
He has blond hair and Blue eyes. Did the hospital give me plastic surgery? he thought to himself.
Why would the hospital dye his black curly hair blond and strengthen it? This certainly confused him. Is he wearing contacts? He has hazel eyes it never turned blue before but light brown or green.
He used the hospital phone to try to call his wife. Her phone is still not in service. He waited an hour later and still, no one was answering his wife's phone. Danny is getting upset from all the waiting.
He has come to the conclusion he is in somebody else's body.

Dog Thirteen
Dog Thirteen June 4, 2023 Today was different. To be fair, all days are different now that I am a new dog. Every day I seem to be able to do something new- open my eyes, stand up, hobble around, wag my tail. Every day I get stronger and more comfortable in this body. It’s not bad, being a dog. Not so far, at least. I never have to go hungry, although we are feeding from our mother less and less and trying new foods that come out of a bag and a can. It’s a mixture. I wish I could tell the humans that I prefer the food from the can. I try to show them by picking out the kibble pieces and spitting them onto the ground, but they just laugh and think I am being cute. That feels frustrating, to not be understood. But I cannot stay mad for too long because the humans pick me up and pet my head and body and it makes me feel happy inside, and now that I know how to wag my tail, I try to do that a lot.

So, Danny Swift went down with the boat and Mrs. Swift is now free from his tirade. He woke up in Paul William's body. The narration and dialogue of Danny makes it obvious that he's misogynistic, especially towards his wife. They say that people accuse others of cheating particularly if they, themselves, have been cheating. Makes me wonder if Danny's been having an affair. Wouldn't surprise me. I am surprised that although it's mentioned that Danny thinks a wife's place is to cook, clean, and pay the bills, but that it excludes how he could even view her as a source of carnal pleasure. That would really set the nail in the coffin then. Also, the fact that he blames her for not using birth control when condoms are affordable is beyond me. It's like the story's trying to have him be controlling, but that he's not as controlling to an extreme that I would expect. When it comes to him being controlling over his wife, if he wanted to control her sexual reproductive system I'm surprised he didn't make her get an nexplanon arm implant, a vaginal copper IUD implant, having her tubes tied, going on the pill, or (worst option based upon the stories that I've heard) having a stockpile of Plan B. Then again, if he's not thinking about birth control but doesn't want her to get pregnant why doesn't he just, how do I put this, not use the baby canal. Like, there's other options, especially if he just views his wife as somebody to make his life easier and enjoyable. I wonder if the police will investigate into Mrs. Swift's phone history. Like, when she received Danny's message, and was she still on her phone after receiving the message? Altogether, Danny is made to be a despicable man. His 2nd chance at life, may not have been the best. I also wonder that since he's in somebody else's body if Danny was on the boat with somebody else at that moment? Like, are Danny Swift and Paul Williams somehow related or were they in the same vicinity when the accident happened?

Omgggg, Danny's such a terrible person! If I was his wife, I would have switched my phone off too! So he's boat sank, he drowned and now he is in Paul William's body. What happened to Paul in the first place and why was he in the hospital? Is Paul dead and is that why Danny is in his body? Soooo many questions! This was such a compelling first chapter!
