Run, Run, As Fast As You Can.... First Place in Tales Retold Challenge. Content Warning.
Please bear with me, dear reader. I am going to back up a ways, and try to find, in some meandering way, the point where everything began. A tricky thing, at the best of times, I'm sure you can agree.

The Three Little Pyggs . Second Place in Tales Retold Challenge.
Albert Pygg sighed and stroked the hairs on his chin as he closed his laptop. The page for the online group for residents of the Wolff Estates housing development to air their grievances about the Homeowners Association had been taken down. Evidently Mr. Wolff’s sister-in-law’s nanny had infiltrated the group, achieved moderator status, and deleted the whole thing. Albert saw that the groups for Wolff Acres, Wolff Park, and Wolfftown had also disappeared. He now felt even more terrible that he had convinced both of his brothers to move into the subdivision.

The Facility. Runner-Up in Tales Retold Challenge. Content Warning.
“Okay, Ella, let’s get you back to bed.” Cinderella was led by one of the maids back to her room. It was small, with just a single bed and a desk taking up most of the space. Everything was white, even the walls, which meant it was clean. Cinderella loved to clean.

Maidens of the Sea. Runner-Up in Tales Retold Challenge.
As with most of the other short stories in this book, "Maidens of the Sea" was inspired by an online writing prompt about an alternate possible origin of mermaids. Mermaids and similar beings appear in mythology all over the world, each version with a different kind of origin, from Assyrian goddesses to Greek naiads and sirens, so I doubt that one more will make a difference

The Misunderstood Stepsister. Runner-Up in Tales Retold Challenge.
It begins with “Once upon a time.” No, that’s not right. In fact, this isn’t even a fairy tale. There are no glass slippers, pumpkins, or fairy godmothers. There are no beautiful girls with their gossamer blue gowns and perfectly coifed hair. Well, there are. But none of those things pertain to me.

The Three Little Men. Runner-Up in Tales Retold Challenge.
Wolfgang approached the house, weapon in his hand. The building was small and rough, and not very well planned. Nails stuck out of the wood at odd angles and all bent, and the beams were broken and warped, and the foundations well-spent. The roof was just weeds, a mixture of clover and stover, all woven together, over and over.
