mpy bumps on the scalp, sometimes causing inflammation, itching, and swelling; these can easily be mistaken for scalp acne.

Folliculitis is divided into two types: physiological and pathological. Diseases that cause folliculitis of the scalp are often related to bacterial infections, parasitic infections, fungal infections, etc., which mainly develop due to sweating or oily scalp and poor scalp hygiene.

In the early stages of folliculitis, red papules appear on the hair follicles of the scalp , accompanied by an itchy feeling. If not controlled early, it can quickly form pus, rupture, causing pain and more severe skin infections.

Folliculitis can also cause a person to have hard, oily skin bumps or itchy patches

Deal:

To relieve pain and help the folliculitis area heal faster, you can apply warm compresses to the inflamed area 3-4 times a day for 20 minutes each time. See your doctor if the folliculitis does not improve, antibiotics may be used if the cause is fungal or bacterial.

3. Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp

Seborrheic dermatitis is a form of scalp eczema, a chronic and easily relapsing condition. There are many causes of seborrheic dermatitis, for example, men have a lot of androgen hormones and strong oil secretion, which can cause seborrheic dermatitis. In addition, a long-term greasy diet, alcoholism, staying up late, and frequent stress will also have a certain impact on the appearance of seborrheic dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis often manifests as erythema and small papules on the scalp, gray-white scales, and marked itching. In severe cases, the scalp may leak fluid and have a foul odor. If not controlled, the disease can lead to hair loss or infection.

Depending on the condition that causes the scalp to become lumpy, the treatment will be different

Deal:

Depending on the severity of seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, treatments may include medicated shampoos, creams or ointments to relieve symptoms.

4. Hair cysts of the scalp (sebaceous cysts, pilar cysts)

Pilar cysts arise from the middle third (neck) of the hair follicle duct, occurring most often on the scalp. This is a soft tumor filled with keratin, a protein found in hair and nails.

These cysts are usually moderately large in size and have a smooth surface. This type of tumor usually grows slowly and is painless, but can sometimes swell and be painful, and may even ooze a thick, foul-smelling fluid.

A pilonidal cyst is a soft tumor filled with keratin, a protein found in hair and nails

Deal:

Scalp pilonidal cysts are harmless and usually go away on their own. If they cause discomfort, you can see your doctor for treatment, which may include steroid injections to reduce inflammation, draining, or removing the cyst .

5. Scalp cancer

Although uncommon, scalp cancer can occur with long-term exposure to sunlight, chronic irritation, or leukoplakia . If contracted, scalp cancer can grow rapidly, metastasize to the brain, and is highly fatal.

Scalp cancer shows symptoms in the form of papules , nodules or wart-like bumps with scabs. The scalp is especially prone to dandruff, especially viscous dandruff, wet dandruff or other types of sebum on the hair. The amount of hair also falls out more every day. Patients often experience itching all over the head and feel discomfort in the scalp even after washing their hair.

When the tumor grows rapidly, the initial pimples will ulcerate (like cauliflower) along the shallow surface, invading the skull bone, leading to deformation and superinfection.

Be careful with hard lumps on the head that cause pain, recur many times and can cause ulcers like cauliflower

6. Urticaria

Urticaria, also known as urticaria, is a type of rash that causes swelling, hard lumps and itching on the scalp. Hives can occur on the scalp or any part of the body.

Deal:

Hives usually go away on their own within a few hours or days. Depending on your condition, your doctor may prescribe antihistamines or corticosteroids to help relieve the itching and discomfort.

7. Scalp fungus

When the scalp is infected with fungus, it can cause hard lumps, itching, inflammation, peeling of the scalp and hair loss. Fungal scalp dermatitis is more common in children and the elderly than in young adults.

Deal:

Oral antifungal medications may be used for about 1 to 3 months to treat and prevent the fungus from recurring.

In general, most conditions that cause hard, pimple-like bumps on the scalp are benign. If the bumps are persistent and do not go away after treating them with warm compresses, changing shampoos, or over-the-counter medications, you should consider seeing a dermatologist as soon as possible to rule out the risk of scalp cancer or other serious infections.
