Korean cosmetics have earned a special place on the shelves of the world's most famous skincare stores. If they, the Koreans, have such a beautiful complexion as porcelain, why shouldn't we? Well, it seems that their beauty is not only based on the specific products they use but also on a little trick that may seem trivial. The Korean skincare routine consists of 10 simple steps, and one of them is the "3 Second Rule". This rule says that you should use a moisturizer on your face immediately after washing your skin, while your face is still wet, in exactly 3 seconds.

Does that sound weird to you? It's not at all! We invite you to find out from the lines below what are the seven benefits of moisturizing your skin as soon as you wash your face!

1. Helps skin absorb products better. If you apply your care products immediately after washing your face, they will be absorbed more easily into the skin. The outer layer of the skin hardly allows the effective penetration of active ingredients from cosmetics, as it acts as a protective barrier. But when the skin is wet, serums and moisturizers are much easier to absorb.

2. Moisturizes the skin better. Although it seems hard to believe, the skin becomes much drier after washing your face. The water evaporates quickly, and your skin stays dehydrated. If you apply moisturizer faster, your skin will practically seal the water in it, and your skin will be more hydrated and brighter.

3. Your skin will look younger. Hydrated skin looks much younger than dehydrated skin. When the skin is dry and tight on the face, wrinkles, fine lines, scars are much more visible.

Although serums and creams have the role of making the skin smoother, if you apply them on dry skin you will not have the same benefits as when applied on damp, freshly washed skin. Dry skin has an accumulation of dead cells and will not allow moisturizers to penetrate deep into the skin.

4. Your skin stays healthy. If you apply moisturizers immediately after washing your face, your skin will maintain its natural balance. When your skin is dry, the sebaceous glands produce more and more sebum and you will choose oily skin, affected by acne, with black, white spots and blackheads.

5. Protect your skin from UV rays. UV rays are very harmful and that is why we need to protect ourselves from them. Applying moisturizer immediately after washing the face plays a very important role in this process. The sun's rays dry the skin very much, and the use of a moisturizer after washing brings extra protection to the skin. After that, you can apply a cream with a protection factor of at least 30.

6. Soothes sensitive skin. You know very well that sensitive and irritated skin needs special care. If you apply moisturizer before your skin dries after washing, then you will prevent the appearance of irritated and dry areas. You should wash your face twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, to avoid inflammation of sensitive skin.

7. The care routine becomes shorter. A multi-step skincare ritual can take too long and can seem complicated. Well, the "3-second rule" is not complicated at all and lasts exactly as long as it promises … 3 seconds! No matter how late it is, the "3-second rule" will help you look so much better!

What do you think about this rule? Have you ever applied moisturizer to damp skin or have you been convinced to do so from now on?
