Tear Trough Dermal Filler

Our eyes are one of the first features that we notice about one another. We all want to look fresh and alert but hollowing and dark circles under the eyes can often give a more tired and aged appearance. This is because, as we get older, facial volume is lost and skin loses its elasticity, often leading to a more hollow appearance under the eyes. Tear trough dermal filler treatment can minimise this appearance of hollowing by adding volume, to give a more rejuvenated and bright-eyed appearance. At Serenity, we only use the highest quality products that are specifically designed for tear trough dermal filler treatment.

What Is Tear Trough Dermal Filler?

Tear trough dermal filler is a highly skilled treatment that should only be performed by an experienced practitioner. Hollowing under the eyes can make you feel tired and aged, due to the shadowed appearance. Some people naturally have a more hollow appearance under the eye and for others, under eye hollowing appears with ageing.

Often tear trough dermal filler is combined with cheek dermal filler. We do this because of the anatomical changes that take place during the ageing process, which have a profound impact on the under-eye area. At your consultation your practitioner will discuss with you the most appropriate options for you.

For tear trough dermal fillers, either a cannula or needle is used. This will be decided by your practitioner depending on the technique required and explained to you. The treatment itself usually takes around 20 minutes to perform.

What Happens During My First Consultation and Treatment?

At your face-to-face consultation with one of experienced nurse prescribers a full assessment will be carried out and dermal fillers will be explained to you. For most patients tear trough dermal fillers are combined with cheek dermal fillers in order to give structural support to the midface and to give you the most natural results, addressing the anatomical changes that happen with age. All of this will be discussed with you at your consultation and your nurse prescriber will provide you with an honest and effective treatment plan. All of the potential side effects and risks will be explained to you thoroughly so that you can make an informed decision about proceeding with treatment. We will ask you about your past medical history and will need to know any medications you are currently taking or have taken recently, both prescribed and over the counter. It is important to tell us if you have had previous non-surgical treatments, and if you know the product used this would be helpful. If you proceed with a treatment option, we will require you to read and sign a consent form, after which, photographs will be taken of your face and the treatment area, all stored on your file with us for future reference. Please arrive for your appointment with minimal make up as this will need to be removed and the treatment area cleansed. After your treatment all of your aftercare instructions will be discussed with you, as well as being sent to you via email, together with an out-of-hours telephone number.
