A good skin care regimen is vital in keeping a youthful appearance. There are so many products on the market, which makes it hard to know what types of products we actually should be using on a daily basis and which products are "extras" or something that we might not actually need. The basic necessities of a fundamental skin care routine uses products that cleanse, tone, and moisturize. It is vitally important to keep your face moisturized, especially the most sensitive areas such as your neck and the area around your eyes. What should you look for in your skin care routine? Everyone is going to be different, because we all have different skin types and skin tones. This article will help you to know why you should use a cleanser, a toner, moisturizer, and an eye cream.

Cleanse

Think of your face as a canvas. The most effective canvas is one that is clean. Skin that is cleansed daily looks healthier and even feels healthier. The act of cleansing your face, or washing your face, removes dirt, debris, makeup, lotions, and other impurities we have collected on our faces throughout the course of a day. Canvases (faces) that are not cleansed daily will ultimately result in all that dirt, debris, and impurities building upon one another. When the dirt and debris is stacked on top of each other, then we do not have a clean canvas to work with, meaning any of the products we choose to use will be extremely in-effective, because the will struggle to break through the barrier of dirt and grime (yuck!). Choose a cleanser that will work with your skin type and cleanse your face daily.

Tone

Toner. What exactly is toner? This is often a step that many skip in their skin care regimen simply because they don't understand why it even needs to be done. While it is vitally important to use a cleanser on your face, the cleanser doesn't always rid your face of all the impurities, that is where tone comes to the rescue. Toner will help to get rid of the residual dirt, oil, makeup, and other impurities. Toner is really simple to use and will only add about 30 seconds to your routine, all you need is toner and a cotton ball. Not sure what type of toner to get? Make sure you choose a toner that is will work with your skin type, and always avoid toner containing alcohol (it will dry out your skin).

Moisturizer

Even the professionals recommend that we moisturize our face daily. Moisturizer keeps your skin balanced and can also reduce the chance of skin issues or problems. Moisturizers can help to combat skin issues such as acne, wrinkles and age spots, while also keeping your skin looking young and beautiful. In addition to a facial moisturizer it is also important to an essential skin care regimen to invest in a moisturizer or cream for your eyes. Why do I need a separate moisturizer/cream for my eyes? The skin around your eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of your face. The skin around the eyes is also more prone to sun damage and wrinkles. Creams made specifically for the area around the eyes are often thicker than facial moisturizers and are formulated specifically for the area around your eyes.

Wrapping It Up

If you don't have a daily facial regimen, it is not too late to start one. Invest in products that will cleanse, tone, and moisturize all while keeping your skin youthful and healthy. Always do the research to determine the best products for your skin!
