Makeup can play a huge role not only in how you look but also how you feel. Make sure the makeup you use is healthy for your body, as well as a mental state. The best makeup should boost your confidence by getting you ready for the day ahead and by helping you look even more gorgeous. They help complement your natural beauty and bring out the features you really want people to see, while potentially hiding some of the other ones. It’s honestly up to you. Some makeups boost confidence better than others, so here’s my guide to confidence-boosting makeup tricks for you.

For Your Skin

Every type of skin is different, so it’s super important that you figure out what your skin tone and type are. Be comfortable with your natural tones and try to work with them, rather than trying to change them. While you may be able to pick a few tones lighter or darker, don’t try too hard or you’ll end up looking splotchy. Find foundations and moisturizers that soothe your skin and improve overall skin health. Watch out for allergic reactions if you have sensitive skin. If makeup makes your skin itch, it’s definitely not for you.

For Your Lips

Confident lip treatments do not always mean bright firetruck red. If bright red works best for you, go for it. If not, experiment with darker tones, such as burgundy or a pinkish jam colored purple. You can also use super light colors for an eye-catching effect that will be sure to turn heads.

For Your Brows

Best life advice for you, do not over-tweeze your brows. There is a point where brows just stop growing back and they do thin with age, so air on the side of caution with this one. Embrace your brows the way they are. If your brows are exceptionally thick, consider using a wax eyebrow treatment to help keep them tame (many options are available online). If your eyebrows are super thin and you want extra definition, similar products can help, or you can consider microblading. Eyebrows help shape the contour of your face and awesome brows help you have an awesome attitude.

For Your Nails

While not necessarily a true makeup, nail polish can definitely boost your confidence. Try bold colors like millennial pink or black if you want to draw attention to your nails, or have a look that will last you all week, saving you more time for all of the important things going on in your life. I highly recommend metallic nail polish for boosting confidence because metallic tones will complement any outfit or skin tone.

For Your Eyes

Eye treatments can positively affect how you feel about yourself, and make it easier for you to interact with others with boosted confidence. Strong, bold lines can be created using mascara, eyeliner, and even eyeshadow. Pick colors that complement both the natural colors of your eyes and your lashes for a more natural look. For example, if you have brown lashes and brows, you may want to consider brown mascara and liner. However, if you feel like your lashes and brows are dark enough, you can choose black. Eye treatments should definitely emphasize eye size and color. If you’re going to try something new you’re not sure about, consider trying it out a day or two before when you’re not rushed for time. Don’t sacrifice comfort to make a fashion statement. Find out which eye shadow colors make you feel the best and stick with those.

Hopefully, this guide has helped you discover how switching up your makeup routine can help boost your confidence. My suggestion would be to pick one category and start there. Try things out and figure out what works best for you, because it’s honestly all about what works best for you. Whether or not a product will make you feel better is all about how you actually feel, so don’t be afraid to experiment.
