Maintaining natural hair regularly is usually a feat in itself, but going on vacation makes it even harder. Unfortunately, when we pack for vacations like cruises, we aren't able to take all of the products in our arsenal with that help us keep our hair looking good regularly. You don't want to spend too much time on your hair on vacation, since you're supposed to be to have fun, so limit yourself to what you most definitely need. Unforeseen occurrences may happen on the trip and you may have to end up washing your hair. Wash day usually takes a long time when we were at home, but since vacations are for relaxing, we don’t generally have that time to spare. On cruises, our hair can go through a lot because we are constantly jumping in and out of pools that are filled with chlorine, the sun is beating down on our hair drying it out, and we also have to worry about the salt from the ocean drying it out as well, so it's best to take precautions.

When you're in an area that can potentially damage your hair, it's better for you to make sure that you are bringing the best shampoo on the trip with you. Keep in mind what ingredients to avoid in shampoo when making the decision of what hair product to bring on your trip with you, as this is important. Some shampoos contain toxic ingredients such as synthetic perfumes, Triclosan, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Polysorbates, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate that can add to the damage you could potentially experience on the trip.

Protective hairstyles make a huge difference to the health of your hair on a cruise, and they also give you more time to be able to complete activities without having to constantly manage your hair. Styles like box braids, crochets, braids, weaves or clip-ins are an easy hairstyle to maintain on vacation, as you can style them in many different ways. Styles like these are another measure you can take to protect your natural hair from the sun, salt and chlorine on your trip.
