Caring for dry hands requires twice as much effort and attention as caring for normal hand skin. Alas, the sun, wind, household chemicals, lack of vitamins can dry out and exhaust even naturally healthy and elastic skin. And if the skin of the hands is initially dry, then the aggressive influence of the external environment affects it even more negatively. Accordingly, the care should be special.

Caring for dry hands includes proper and gentle washing, use of creams and protective gloves, and protection of hands from aggressive environmental influences.

Causes of dry skin, recommendations for the care of dry hands

Dry hand care depends in part on what caused the dry skin. One of the factors is weather: cold and wind lead to the formation of wrinkles and cracks, to roughness of the skin, and the sun dehydrates it and accelerates its aging. External traumatic effects - scratches, bruises and cuts - also negatively affect the condition of the skin. Daily use of household detergents without special gloves not only dries out the skin, but over time can cause severe allergic reactions, eczema, and dermatitis. Finally, the cause of dry skin can be vitamin deficiency, a lack in the diet and, as a result, in the body of vitamins A and E, as well as polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Caring for dry hands includes washing them, using creams and protective gloves, protecting hands from exposure to the sun, cold and wind. So, it is advisable to wash your hands with soap containing emollient and moisturizing ingredients - for example, olive oil and glycerin. After washing, be sure to wipe your hands dry - evaporation of the remaining moisture also dries out the skin. When choosing hand creams, pay attention to their composition - glycerin, sorbitol, lactic acid, shea butter or shea butter play in your favor. After age 30, use sunscreen hand creams to protect your hands from sunlight and prevent age spots.

Before going outside - apply a cream depending on the weather: sunscreen - in summer, cream with plant extracts - in autumn-spring, cream with natural oils, creating a protective film on the skin of the hands - in the winter season. When washing dishes or doing other household chores that involve contact with water, dirt or household chemicals, wear gloves after smearing your hands with a greasy cream - this, on the one hand, will reduce the discomfort from wearing gloves, and on the other hand, will create a greenhouse effect on the skin of your hands, thanks to what the components of the cream will affect the skin more actively.

Home remedies for dry hands

You can enhance the effect of using cosmetics for dry hands with additional home procedures - masks, baths and compresses.

Potato hand mask . Make mashed potatoes, let cool slightly, place on hands and put on gloves for two hours, then rinse with warm water and spread nourishing cream on your hands.

Honey compress for dry hands . A mixture of half a glass of olive oil, half a glass of honey and 1 tsp. Heat salicylic acid in a water bath to a homogeneous consistency, apply it on your hands for 15 minutes, remove the excess with a cotton swab dipped in lemon juice.

Honey mask for dry hands . Mash 75g vegetable oil with 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp. honey, apply to your hands, remove the mask with a damp cotton swab after it dries.

Paraffin bath for dry hands . Melt cosmetic paraffin in an enamel dry dish on a water bath, scrub your hands and apply cream, pour the melted paraffin into the hand bath, add a few drops of essential oil, put your hands in the bath for 1-2 minutes, then remove for a few seconds, lower again and remove again - the procedure must be repeated several times until a thick paraffin film forms on the hands. Then put on plastic gloves on your hands, mittens or mittens on top. Remove the paraffin wax after 20 minutes, rinse your hands with warm water and stay outside for an hour.

If proper and thorough care of dry hands does not give a result and the feeling of tightness, dryness does not go away, and the skin begins to become covered with microcracks, be sure to consult a doctor - perhaps the problem is not at all in proper care, but in some hormonal or other disorders in your the body.
