Purple shampoo is not required, and natural cosmetics can provoke yellowness.

The number of natural owners of light hair is decreasing every year, and this is due to the fact that the “blonde” gene is recessive, and the dominant gene for dark hair is rapidly replacing it. But there are only more and more people who want to become a blonde. The only problem is the color is capricious and expensive. We learned how to preserve the cool shade from the international blonde expert, hairdresser, colorist Yulia Vorontsova.

The main disadvantages of a blond

There are a number of difficulties that are familiar to owners of blonde hair in any season:

• The pile becomes thin and brittle. The lightening process always damages the hair. The pigment is washed out quickly from bleached hair for the first time, and repeated toning gives a smoother, richer and more pure color. When the choice falls on a cool color, grooming is especially important so that the washout does not happen too quickly.

• Any manipulation, such as a hair dryer and an iron, injures the hair after lightening twice as much as usual. Even the choice of the iron may depend on the rate of "wear" of the color; in order to avoid this, you need to choose tools marked "color-safe", that is, color protection;

• Hair is more sensitive to water hardness and quality;

• Elasticity and softness are lost due to lipid loss after clarification.

Why does blond turn yellow?

There are several reasons why the cold shade of the blonde goes yellow. And, if you notice that the hair turns yellow after dyeing, exclude these factors:

Unprofessional staining

Even a slight deviation from the technology can lead to the appearance of an unwanted color, and dyeing at home is fraught with completely unpredictable results. A professional colorist should be able to draw up such a coloring formula when, when washing out the color, it does not need to be maintained with some kind of toning mask or shampoo. There are, of course, exceptions when, for example, a client, for some personal reason, cannot visit the salon regularly, and the hair will be exposed to harmful effects, such as active sunlight. In this situation, a tinting product should be used to maintain the color. ...

Insufficiently bleached hair

In girls with light brown hair and brunettes, when lightening under the influence of hydrogen peroxide, the natural pigment in the hair is destroyed, and it is replaced by a dye. Over time, the dye is washed out and, if the hair has received insufficient lightening, it acquires a yellow tint. Therefore, colorists use powerful brightening products such as pastes, creams and powders, but they are more gentle on the hair than products that were used 20 years ago.

Lightening of previously colored hair

In order to avoid trouble, you must first completely get rid of the old pigment. Otherwise, it will appear during wearing of a new color with yellowish spots and an ugly shade.

Hard water

Tap water contains a large amount of mineral salts that damage the hair structure, making it porous. The result is that the blond is quickly washed out and the hair takes on a dirty yellow tint. Better to buy a water filter or wash in a basin.

Improper care

The use of folk remedies containing natural oils, alcohol and a large amount of sulfates in the care can provoke the appearance of an undesirable shade. The oils penetrate deeply into the hair structure and push up the native pigment or the remnants of the previous dyeing.

Lack of thermal protection

Hair care in all seasons requires special hair protection. It helps prevent the hair from drying out and overheating. In cold weather, a hair dryer, curling iron and iron are used especially often - this severely damages the hair. That is why it is worth stocking up on high-quality protective products that will not only preserve hair, but also extend the life of styling.

Unsuitable shampoo

Professional shampoos for colored hair have in their formula such substances that affect the color molecule, fixing it and thereby prolonging the life of the shade. Household shampoos usually contain silicone components that clog the hair structure, causing it to crumble over time. Therefore, for a blonde, we recommend professional care. It is desirable that these were shampoos and masks without sulfates and parabens.

To maintain cold blonde shades at home, many use shampoos and masks that contain a special purple pigment to neutralize yellowness. But these shampoos make the hair dry and brittle, so to maintain healthy hair, it is recommended to alternate your regular colored hair shampoo with a color restoration shampoo.
