3 Small Beauty Businesses to Support This Holiday Season

And look cute while doing so!

2020 has been hellish to say the least. I don't think there's been a moment of time where I've sat down, read the news, and thought, "Oh. That's normal and fun!" And let me tell you, that amount of stress and exhaustion everyday for 12 months can really do a number on your body. Not just mask acne or hair thinning, but this year has done a number on our brains too.

I'm not a huge fan of consumerism as self care cuz like, ew. There's a lot of tangible mental work one can do to be happy! But it's December. No one cares about tangible mental work. It's all about the red and green glitter, and that really nice foil wrapping paper that sells for like $12 on Etsy, and consumerism, duh.

So without further ado, to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, I give you 3 of my favorite beauty brands to gift your loved ones (or yourself).

1. Brujita Skincare

Brujita Skincare is a Latina owned and operated skincare brand formulated and made by estheticians in Los Angeles. They've got just about everything you can think of for any person on your list: vegan creams, AHA exfoliation masks, skin safe facial cloths, and (my personal favorite) absolutely luscious lip balms.

For the natural skincare junkie in your life, they sell bundles that are the perfect introduction to their brand and products. If you're like me and struggle immensely with overthinking gifts, they also sell gift cards/Brujita cash which is honestly a life saver on my need for validation from loved ones.

There's a lot of "natural" skincare brands floating around these days, which tend to either just be chock full of generally unhelpful coconut oil or don't contain the high quality formulation of Brujita Skincare products. So in the best interest of not clogging your best friend's pores this Christmas, it's the perfect fit.

2. Webster Wigs

I saw a really perfect rendition of that horrible 12 Days of Christmas song where I believe 6 bundles are requested. Well, Webster Wigs doesn't exactly sell bundles, HOWEVER I simply would not complain if one of their premium lace fronts ended up in my stocking this year.

The London based wig company sells lace fronts (up to 65 inches of hair...yes it's a dream come true), hard front wigs, human hair wigs, ponytail wraps, lashes, and wig care accessories. And these aren't just your run of the mill, regular degular, Aliexpress crunchy plastic capless wigs. No sir or ma'am. Most pieces start at $65 and go up from there. They are an investment.

This is the perfect gift for any style switcher, cosplayer, or over all beauty enthusiast in your life. Considering there are dozens of styles and colors to choose and combine, Webster Wigs also sells mystery wig bundles, which include any 3 of their premium wigs, but you just won't know which ones until they arrive on your doorstep. Gotta love the element of surprise.

3. Brian Beauty

Last and most certainly not least, considering this is number one on my wishlist this year, we have Brian Beauty. The brains behind alt Instagram's favorite liquid eyeliner: Taboo Liner have done it again this holiday season.

There's not a sexier, more iconic stocking stuffer I can think of than even just one box of Taboo Liner. They sell a classic black liner with two tip types for ultimate precision and customization, but they also sell a range of liquid liner colors I have yet to see anywhere else. Both a deep red and a neon red are in their arsenal, alongside glow in the dark orange and green, and a subtle brown. Literally who is selling neon eyeliner pens of this quality and caliber?? None other than Brian Beauty.

This is the perfect gift for any makeup artist in your life, professional or just a dabbler. Also great for any Instagram baddies you may be thinking of this magical time of year. Also great for me, if you're wondering what I absolutely need this year. Yes, it's a need. Not a want.

Holiday shopping is shockingly tricky this year. What does anyone in your life actually need? Well, unless you sit them down for a 3 hour therapy session and absolutely pick their brains to shreds, you may never know. But one nice fat order for a small business just feels better than giving your money to Sephora or Ulta. You're giving the gift of beauty and self care to your loved ones, but also you're supporting a community of people make their own way in the world, doing what they love.

Which is a win in my book. Even if it is consumerism (which is still a big ew from me).
