Rock Star Biopics are amazing.

Recently, the film industry has released several films based on the lives of famous rock stars, most notably the films Bohemian Rhapsody, The Dirt and the upcoming Rocketman. Now, some may be upset, either wanting new and original stories to be told or that some information is fabricated for the film version, but I am not either type of person. Honestly, I absolutely love hearing stories about famous figures and their lives. I love rock star biopics and await each future release of these types of film, and there are several reasons why.

First off, these are stories about real people. While they became famous and successful, they are still just people. They have lives, troubles, hopes and fears, emotions, etc. Learning their stories is very fascinating. Their stories tell us how they have lived and for those with similar struggles to the rock star, shows how to pull through in times of hardship. This is a story about a real person and to learn how they go through everything is a fascinating subject for myself and for many others. These are types of stories that cannot be made up, which is a reason why biopics are so good, because they tell true stories. While some information may be changed, the story remains the same.

Another reason why I love rock star biopics, the music. Hearing the music by these great figures gives me enjoyment. From learning how they came up with certain songs to seeing the crowd in the film have the same feeling of joy as I do watching the song be played to the actual song being in the film, it's just awesome. Can't help grooving along to "Another One Bites The Dust" or "Bennie and the Jets," or rocking out to "Keep Yourself Alive", "Take Me To The Top" or feeling a huge emotional response for "On With The Show" and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." These songs affect human feeling and emotion in similar ways that films do. So, to have films feature, and partially be about this music brings together two things that bring people together to have this emotion and many feelings is just beautiful. Films and music together are a perfect combination that make biopics great for another reason.

A third reason is the heart that is brought into the film. Like I said before, the films are about real lives. So, there is usually a lot of heart and care brought into the film by both the families of the figure (if not the figures themselves), and the filmmakers. The goal of these films is to tell the story of these great people as truthfully and amazingly as they can. And usually, they bring over the actual people that it's based on, unless they are deceased then their families and friends to help. Like how Brian May and Roger Taylor were involved with the making of Bohemian Rhapsody or Elton John being involved in his own biopic. Or even with Motley Crue being involved with their own biopic. Even Johnny Cash's son was a producer for Walk The Line, his dad's biopic. Having these people approve the film and approve what goes on in the film, with brings the heart to it. These aren't just a cash grab movie where you write a script and who cares what happens in it. No, these films are carefully planned out and made with intense care to make sure that they are accurate and approved so that whoever it is based on (or the family of them) will enjoy it and see it as a perfect retelling of that story. That is another reason why I love these films.

These are only a few reasons out of many of why I absolutely love watching biopics about famous rock stars. These films tend to be beautifully made, have a good amount of accurate information and overall are great films. I thank you for reading and I encourage you to go see a biopic of any rock stars in the future such as:

Nowhere Boy - Story of John Lennon's Younger Years (Pre-Beatles)

Walk The Line - Story of Johnny Cash and June Carter

Ray - Story of Ray Charles

Love & Mercy - Story of Brian Wilson

The Doors - Story of The Doors

Bohemian Rhapsody - Story of Queen (mainly Freddie Mercury)

The Dirt - Story of Motley Crue

Rocketman - Story of Elton John (releases in theaters on May 31, 2019 though I was able to see it early on May 18 and it was phenomenal)

And many more...
