Ayyyyy-Ohhhh! Oh my goodness, Bohemian Rhapsody, what an amazing and beautiful film and absolutely worthy of the great Freddie Mercury's legacy. While many critics didn't appreciate the film, many Queen fans such as myself, look past the "flaws" and still see a beautiful story about a legendary man who went from being some kid who immigrated to London all the way to a legend who was immigrated into our hearts forever.

There is a reason that this film has won so many awards and made so much money (the highest grossing biopic of all time), despite mixed reviews (and the Bryan Singer controversy). The actual film was absolutely well made. All you have to do is just watch it and you'll see. It's much more than just a two hour playlist of Queen music. It is an actually amazing masterpiece of a film that deserved every single accolade that it got and more. (Darn it, Green Book. You just had to win Best Picture.)

Sure, you can argue that the film isn't 100 percent accurate, but honestly, I don't believe that there is a biopic that is. The thing with biographical films (biopics) is that they usually tend to bend some facts to fit with the overall storyline of the film. And overall, Bohemian Rhapsody ends up being such a beautiful story. The whole story is the next paragraph so spoiler alert.

Farrokh Bulsara, he just ends up being this kid from Zanzibar whose family immigrated to London and he reinvents himself as Freddie Mercury (much to the dismay of his father). He then joins a rock band as their singer, gets himself a girl and starts to get more famous all while he struggles to find himself. His band, Queen gets many hits, plays some rocking tours, create one of the greatest songs of all time, "Bohemian Rhapsody." And even despite the fact that Ray Foster, the EMI prouder hates it, they get the song on the radio, where while critics don't like it. It becomes one of the greatest songs ever made. However, that's just how the story goes in the beginning. Freddie begins to question his sexuality. He gets influenced by (pure evil) Paul Prenter, who tries to tear him from the love of his life, Mary and his bandmates from Queen. Paul even orchestrates the firing of John Reid, Queen's manager. However, not all hope is lost as Freddie meets the man that soon ends up becoming his life partner, Jim Hutton. And while Paul ends up nearly destroying Queen, getting Freddie to go solo, Freddie eventually opens his eyes to who Paul really is all with the help of Mary. Then Freddie reunites with Queen to make amends in time for them to get into Live Aid. And while Freddie then gets diagnosed with AIDS, he doesn't let that keep him down, so he reunites with Jim Hutton, visits his family, and he along with Queen perform one of the greatest rock performances ever at Live Aid.

It is absolutely a terrific film full of heart, amazing music, some fun in there and overall a great way to celebrate Freddie's legacy. To those who say it's just a standard biopic, oh, believe me, (in a way Freddie would say) darling when I say, this film is beyond standard. It's a heartfelt story about a man who starts from the bottom, moves his way to the top, makes some mistakes but ultimately overcomes all obstacles to become a legend. If you haven't seen this film, I highly recommend it. Queen has always had critics and this movie isn't any different. And just like Queen's music, this film is so much better than what critics say it is. Thank you for reading and I hope I've influenced you to watch this masterpiece of a film.
