Start writing...One of the greats in the music world Bob Dylan is an American musician, singer, songwriter, artist and writer. He has been a most influential figure popular in both the musical and cultural world for over five decades. His most popular and best-known works came out in the 1960s. Among his well-known early songs are “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin”. Both of these songs became anthems for the U.S. Civil Rights and Anti-War movements. 

In 1965 he came out with a song that differed from others in popular music at that time “Like a Rolling Stone”. 

Bob Dylan has explored many different music styles including folk, blues, country, gospel, rock and roll and rockabilly. He has also taken an interest in folk music from different countries like England, Scotland and Ireland. He performs using various instruments like the guitar, keyboard and harmonica. Since the late 1980s, he has toured steadily which is known as the Never Ending Tour. He has published three books of his drawings and paintings since 1994 and his work has been shown in major art galleries. 

Dylan has sold over 100 million records all over the globe and received many different awards among them Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Awards. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2008 the Pulitzer Prize jury awarded him a special citation for the impact he has had on popular music and American culture. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2012. 

His second album Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan included one of his most popular songs “Blowin’ in the Wind” and another well-known song “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall”.

In 1963 he came out with his third album The Times They Are a-Changin’. The songs on this album reflect real-life stories. “Only a Pawn in the Game” spoke of the murder of civil rights worker Medgar Evers. “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” of the death of black hotel barmaid Hattie Carroll. “Ballad of Hollis Brown” and “North Country Blues” addressed the breakdown of farming and mining communities. There were also two personal love songs one of them is “One Too Many Mornings”

In 1964 he recorded Another Side of Bob Dylan and from this album many different kinds of songs emerged. From a humorous side “I Shall Be Free” and “Motorpsycho Nightmare”. Love songs with a sense of passion “Spanish Harlem Incident” and “To Ramona”. A touch of rock and roll in “I Don’t Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)” and “It Ain’t Me Babe”. The album also included two lengthy and different kinds of songs “Chimes of Freedom” and “My Black Pages”. 

Among other well-known Dylan songs are “Mr Tambourine Man”, “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue”, “Lay Lady Lay”, “Watching the River Flow” and “Tangled Up in Blue”.

This is but a brief look at this incredible and popular musician who is still active today. Bob Dylan can be called a legend and a great personality and his songs are just incredible. Many of them have been made into hits also by other artists. To write about his entire career up to date would be impossible. For those who love Bob Dylan, you know what I mean and for those who haven’t been acquainted with him it is well worth the while to look into his music and give it a listen. You’ll definitely like what you hear. 

Continuing his Never Ending Tour on March 30, 2014 he set off for Japan planning to tour Europe in June and July. Many different projects have been done in the years following. By April 2019, Dylan and his band had performed in over 3,000 shows. Then in 2021 came the Rough and Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour 2021 – 2024. 

Bob Seger comes from Detroit, Michigan and is an American rock singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist. In the 1960s he began performing and recording locally in his area. When he decided to try for stardom he formed The Silver Bullet Band with a group of Detroit-area musicians in 1973. 

He gained national recognition when he came out with the album Live Bullet recorded live in 1975. One of the songs on this album “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” counts as one of his Top Ten songs. 

His second album brought even more fame Night Moves was recorded in 1976. The singles on this album were the title song, “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” and “Maintstream.”

During the time of his rise to fame Bob Seger’s competition came from The Eagles and Bruce Springsteen. What kept him on top was a string of multi-platinum albums among them Stranger in Town, Against the Wind, The Distance and Like a Rock.

Stranger in Town was Seger’s tenth album and included a string of popular songs such as “Still the Same”, “Old Time Rock and Roll” and “Famous Final Scene”.

The eleventh album Against the Wind brought such hits as the title song and “Fire Lake’’.

The Distance, his twelfth album included such songs as “Even Now” and “Roll Me Away”.

The thirteenth Like a Rock included the title song and “American Storm”.

Among his many other hits are songs like “Turn the Page”, “We’ve Got Tonight”, and “Shakedown” which was written for the Eddy Murphy movie “Beverly Hills Cop II”.
