Hi all!

It’s week 19 of Tunes to Get Grooving To and I am back this week with five new tunes for you to get grooving tune. Whether these are popular songs you might have heard of or if they’re something you’ve never heard of before, these five new tunes will definitely be ones to add to your playlists!

1. “No Time to Die” – Billie Eilish

Imagine being only 18 years old and recording the new James Bond theme song. Being the youngest artist ever to record the 007 title track, Billie Eilish is doing well for herself. In an interview she stated: “James Bond is the coolest film franchise to ever exist. I’m still in shock.”.

“No Time to Die” tells the story of romantic betrayal. It’s heartfelt and powerful, with a lot of fans saying: “this is for everyone who said Billie only whispers”. Using chords from the original Bond theme tune, this song will always give me goosebumps. The instrumental and the vocals blend perfectly, and it’s the perfect Bond song.

2. “Magic” – Gabrielle Aplin

Aplin was originally a YouTube sensation back when she was a teenager, and since 2010 she has been releasing her own music. Over the last ten years she’s created so many amazing tunes, some you may recognise. Her cover of “The Power of Love” and her original song “Start of Time” from her 2013 album have been used in television commercials and popular tv shows.

“Magic” is one single from her new album “Dear Happy”. “magic” is a love song, telling the story of how only she understands the love of her other half. It’s a cute and soft song with an upbeat tune that provides a melodic jingle. It’s a beautiful song with a unique story.

3. “Therapist” – Mae Muller

Mae Muller is only 21, yet she is taking over the music industry. Two years ago, she started releasing music on Soundcloud and soon she had a huge fanbase who encouraged her to write more. In 2019 she released her first album and now she’s working on more singles. Mae Muller is one to look out for this year!

Released last month, “Therapist” has become a tune I’ve got on repeat. This rap/pop song is so fun and upbeat. As well as being in love with the vocals and the catchy beat, I’m also in love with the music video! It’s funny and portrays the lyrics perfectly. In the description of the video Muller has written: “we are not here to teach men how to behave.” OOOH! You 100% need to check it out!

4. “Everything Sounds Like a Love Song” – X Ambassadors

X Ambassadors are an alternative rock/indie band that are well known for their songs “Unsteady”, “Renegades”, “Jungle” and “Home”. It’s safe to say that since the band’s first single in 2014, the last 6 years has been amazing for this band. If you haven’t heard of them then you must’ve been living under a rock as they keep growing in popularity and it doesn’t look like they’re going to stop any time soon!

Their new single “Everything Sounds Like a Love Song” is a song about a breakup, yet it’s beautifully written and it’s such a calming tune. The soothing tones of the backing music plus the raw emotion of the vocals is a perfect blend. Everything about this song is perfect. I’m going to have to rate it 11/10.

5. “so am i.” – Super Whatevr

Super Whatevr has been releasing music since 2017. Their alternative pop songs have grown a lot of popularity the last 3 years and their music keeps getting better and better. Although they’re popular, I still believe they’re an underrated group that deserves more recognition! The band’s website superwhatevr.com has a fun feature of dot-to-dot, which features on their album art. You should check it out!

“so am i.” was released earlier this year and features in Super Whatevr’s new album “don’t you wanna be glad?”. The song is about not really being happy – the lyrics “are you faking every smile?” highlights this. Despite that, the beat is catchy and fun and holds a sense of positivity with it. Super fun song from Super Whatevr.
