Week 12 of grooving tunes!

Hi all!

This is my last week before all the Christmas festivities begin and I have two weeks off to take a well-deserved break (LOL)! Before that though, here are five newly released tunes for you so that you can end your decade with the most up to date music!

1. “spark” – Lewis Watson

Watson has been releasing music since 2012. Recently he released his third album “The Love that You Want” which the song “spark” features in. His sound is so unique as his soulful vocals blend so well with the soft backing track. Since 2012, things have been moving quickly for Watson. After his first EP he was soon swept up by Warner Bros. and since then he has been features on Billboard charts, played at many festivals and has racked up a total of three amazing albums.

“spark” was released back in November and it’s beautiful. It’s undoubtedly a powerful love song that pulls at the heartstrings. It’s emotional and meaningful, and I think it will spark – no pun intended – a love for Watson for new fans. As well as being a powerful love song, it’s also very laid-back, so that it could easily be featured in a chill playlist. Whichever playlist you have, this song needs to be in it!

2. “Clean Me Up” – Thomas Headon

This nineteen-year-old from the UK is seriously a hidden gem; this up-and-coming singer-songwriter is definitely one to look out for. Only releasing two singles, “Clean Me Up” being the second, it is already clear how much talent Headon has. As well as being seriously talented, Headon has an incredible sense of humour. When doing research on the singer, his Spotify “about” reads: “Thomas Headon won the year 10 maths award…owns a cardboard cut-out of Harry Styles”. It’s safe to say Headon is trying to keep his career fun and have a laugh with it, as well as trying to seriously produce and release music.

“Clean Me Up” is about being lonely and missing a person close to you. It’s an upbeat tune with serious meanings, yet still remains a catchy song. It’s also recently been featured on the popular social media app TikTok, which has led Headon to have lots of new fans. As well as this, the music video for “Clean Me Up” is just as fun and upbeat as the song itself. 10/10 need to check this song out before the new year!

3. “It’s Not All About You” – Lawrence

Lawrence is an eight-piece band consisting of siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence and six musical friends from school and college who were happy to partake in this up-and-coming band. Earlier in 2019, Lawrence were the first band to sign with Beautiful Minds Records, and then their album “Living Room” came out. The album was a hit, with songs focusing on growing up, family loss, and break-ups and make-ups.

“It’s Not All About You” is their latest single, which is also the title for their new album. The song is full of the excitement of a pop song, and all the sass of a diss track! It concentrates on telling the ‘other person’ that life isn’t all about them, and that – to put it bluntly – they need to shut up! It’s a fun and empowering song. It’s super catchy, and it’ll be stuck in your head all day so go check it out. (Also their music video will make you laugh too)

4. “I CHOOSE YOU” – Adam Melchor

Melchor has already been praised for his “timeless pop” songs, so it’s no surprise he has become so popular since his first EP was released back in 2017. The last two years Melchor has been producing music and creating pop songs that everybody seems to love. His fame is certainly becoming more mainstream and I can see why.

“I CHOOSE YOU” has already been hugely popular. It was released back in November but only now has it reached my interest and I’m so glad I came across it. Melchor states this tune is about how lucky humans are to have that one person in their life that they would always choose. On ‘Genius’ he said: “This song is about the feeling of realizing that and simultaneously forgetting everyone else exists.”. He has managed to put this feeling into a song, and it is perfect. Melchor is one to be listening to in 2020!

5. “Teenage Blues” – Vistas

Vistas formed in 2016 and have been producing alternative rock ever since. The four-piece band from Scotland signed with LAB records in 2017 and have been growing in popularity over the last two years. The band likes to create tunes with catchy choruses, rhythmic basslines and “hooky” guitar sounds. As well as being alternative rock, they’d describe themselves as indie/electro-pop as they like to cover a range of genres to create unique music.

“Teenage Blues” instantly reminds me of summer. It has that uplifting feeling as though it should be played on a happy summer’s day. It is catchy and exciting; I want this song on repeat most days. If you like Circa Waves, The Kooks and Biffy Clyro, then I think this band is for you as their music is a great blend of all these influences. Check “Teenage Blues” out ASAP.
