Hi all!

Welcome back to Tunes to get Grooving To! The last couple of weeks I have brought you some brand new tunes to keep your minds off the world we’re currently living in, in hopes to put a smile on your face and give you tunes that you will groove to. This week I’m not giving you five new tunes, but I am bringing you five tunes that always put me in a good mood. Goodbye sad lockdown feels, hello happy vibes!

1. “You Need To Calm Down” – Taylor Swift

This pop tune from Taylor Swift that was released last year is just so damn catchy. There is no way that you haven’t heard of Taylor Swift so I’m not going to go into any detail of her background or music career, as she’s so mainstream everyone has heard of her! And this song should definitely be spoken about because it is one of my favourites.

Not only is this fun tune a reminder to calm down, it is just a great one to dance to and get rid of any negative thoughts. The music video for this tune is also genius and I love it. Especially during lockdown, it is a good reminder to not be judgmental or rude about how people are coping with this lockdown.

Some people are sharing their music tastes on Instagram, some people are making TikToks and some people are baking banana bread. “You Need To Calm Down” is the best way to remember how to not be a dick during this time!

2. “High Hopes” – Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco is known for the upbeat, powerful dance tunes that get everybody grooving. “High Hopes” is no different. Brendon Urie is an amazing vocalist and never disappoints in making a lyrically beautiful, catchy tune.

“High Hopes” is a clear reminder to keep your spirits up and remain hopeful. Lockdown isn’t going to last forever, and you have to have faith that things will be okay. Although the music video is completely wacky, the lyrics have a powerful meaning. This is the perfect song to jump around and feel happy to.

3. “Pocketful of Sunshine” - Natasha Bedingfield

Everybody knows that iconic Emma Stone, “Easy-A” scene. And if you don’t then you need to go google it right now. It’s amazing, and perfectly sums up how this song makes you feel. Natasha Bedingfield did not disappoint when she made this song ten years ago!

“Pocketful of Sunshine” is exactly that; it is the embodiment of a sunny, happy day. This tune is about doing what makes you happy and living your life the way you want to. It’s uplifting and is a really freeing song.

Back in March Bedingfield shared a “quarantine meme” on Instagram that read: “THINGS YOU CAN STILL DO WHILE SOCIALLY DISTANCING: 1. Stare at the blank page before you, 2. Open up that dirty window, 3. Let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find, 4. Reach for something in the distance (so close you can almost taste it), 5. Release your inhibitions, 6. Feel the rain on your skin.” which is obviously lyrics to “Pocketful of Sunshine”, and I think it’s the best quarantine meme I’ve seen in a while!

4. “Send Me On My Way” – Rusted Root

If I am honest, apart from this one song I had never heard of Rusted Root before. And before you listen to this song, you will probably think you do not know it. But if you are a fan of "Ice Age" or "Matilda" then you will know exactly which song this is!

This upbeat song instantly puts a smile on my face. The music video is trippy, but I think it describes just how this song should make you feel! It is one to dance to, one to sing the lyrics to, even if you’re not sure what the lyrics are. 10/10 recommend if you want to feel better!

5. “Life Is a Highway” – Rascal Flatts

“Kachow”! It’s 2006, “Cars” has been released and suddenly you’re obsessed with this song. It happened to the best of us. If you’ve somehow forgotten this song, then this a reminder to listen to it again! It is one of the best feel-good tunes that I love listening to.

This song needs to be in your playlists because it is such a great song. Listen to it when driving to the shops, listen to it during your government approved walk or listen to it when you’re sat at home! Wherever you listen to this song, use it as motivation that once all this is over you can go on a road trip and play this song as loud as you want!
