In Tribe Mafia's latest single "Can't Let Go" the duo simultaneously charms and razzes any woman ready to feel loved. In their version of Calvin Richardson's original, "Can't Let Go," they explore the relationship of intimacies with voices that bear the emotional weight and range of the blues.

The tender love song has an affectionate hook, which is then dominated by masterful and commanding voices that paint shades of nuance, pooling and pouring out of vowels like thick molasses.

Most of the sounds on the record are dramatic and expansive, but with the guest features from Maleio, Rora Wilde, and Erik Goca "Can't Let Go" offers a layered, mesmerizing portrait of modern romance. Backed only by guitars and light drums, the song progresses into the messiness of passionate love, that gives you an emotional high when you feel close to someone, escalating to the point of begging-in-the-rain ‘90s R&B kind of love.

Tribe Mafia do well in letting you soak and simmer in their vocal harmonies. This stark arrangement heightens the urgency of their deeply engaging narrative. You can hear the room everywhere, and for all the spectral harmonies and cinematic splendor, it’s easy to lose these lyrical pearls in the musical fury, but all the more rewarding to excavate them over multiple listens.

The song makes for a hazy, gliding R&B song that sounds like a heart shattering and reforming just to shatter again -- of a troubled couple attempting to navigate the mess of love. The heartache is from empathy: for lovers at war with their minds and having the fear of vulnerability which wraps their ability to love those trying their best to love them back. But as Tribe Mafia emphasizes, you don’t ever have to be stronger than you really are. The song radiates new dimensions of sensitivity and awareness with bold refusals to be misunderstood. And when all the artists come together, they sort of create a tune that makes teens want to strum guitars and spill their souls.

For the group, these Austin, Texas originals are continuing to make their mark in the music industry and are proving themselves to be the next dynamic duo known as Tribe Mafia. From recording songs on cell phones in their high school bathrooms to touring internationally with Hip-Hop/R&B legend, Akon, on one of the biggest stages in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the group shows the world that the sky’s the limit.

The road to success wasn’t all that perfect. While chasing their dream with unpaid debts and college loans accumulating, Chinasa and Dashawn were eventually led into homelessness but found a very supportive community along the way. This in turn led them to giving their support to the homeless of Austin through Austin Resource Center for the Homeless after their music gained momentum and more opportunities began to open.

Among other accomplishments, Tribe Mafia has competed and won in renowned competitions, such as “Coast 2 Coast,” the world’s largest indie artist showcase. They are currently celebrating their 1 million view reach on their YouTube Video “Like Cola.”

With the drop of their newest single, the group is preparing for the release of their EP which is set to be delivered in early March on all streaming platforms. Along with their releases, Tribe Mafia is preparing to perform on the official lineup at one of the biggest festivals in Austin, Texas at SXSW. From opening at unofficial SXSW showcases in 2015 and 2019 to appearing on the official lineup at SXSW 2020, the group is ready to show Austin how far they’ve come.
