The Fridge Again!!

Profile of KD French

I’m board at home, stuck inside trying to avoid Covid outside and I’m at the refrigerator, again looking for a snack. A song pops into my mind and I close the door without taking anything out. I am playing that viral song from KD French in my head and now it is stuck up there, on repeat.

This up and coming gospel singer from Georgia has become one of my new, favorite singers. Her humorous outlook on life and uplifting spirit always brings a smile to my face. With humble beginnings in Greene County, Georgia, she has made her way to the Kelly Clarkson Show, CNN, Good Morning America and NBC, just to name a few.

After her viral jump-start into YouTube fame, at almost 900,000 views to date, she continuously releases new videos on her channel. Some are funny and some are religious but all uplift your spirits and you just have to sing along. “I still want some cake and I want to cut it with my own knife!” Yes, I want cake and I want to eat it too. Her spirituality shines through her songs, posting some of her favorite gospel hymns mixed with some of her original compositions, all showcasing her love of God and incredible voice.

I love how she addresses her comments by posting a full video on how she deals with trolls and other interactions that are not true to her brand by simply deleting them. She is trying to promote positivity and though generally it is not recommended to delete those by a branding standpoint, I completely side with her doing that. Nobody wants to scroll through positive vibes and get sucked into a thread of hate and shaming.

Even her Instagram is fun and uplifting. She documents her personal life with funny pictures and uplifting quotes. She also posts images of historical figures of the black community like Theodore S. Wright who was the first African American to attend an Ivy League School and Sadie T. M. Alexander who was the first African American to receive a Ph.D. in economics in the United States, and the first woman to receive a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. By educating her followers on so many of those before her with inspiring accomplishments helps bring to light the possibilities for those who are willing to put in the effort and reach for the stars.

She is also addressing body issues by partnering with Weight Watchers, which has helped millions of people lose weight with the latest nutritional and behavior change science for the past 55 years. It is not just about losing weight but it is also about feeling good about yourself which is a huge factor in living a positive life. Yes, there are so many struggles for so many people but KD French’s humor puts a fun twist on the more serious subject of weight management. She acknowledges issues many have and through her music, relates to her viewers on an intimate and personal level.

Her plate is pretty full by being a wife, mother of two, income generator and social media influencer but it looks like she handles life with grace and gratefulness. She literally encompasses the whole of mind, body and soul through her work. She is grateful for every day and inspires others to observe that outlook in life as well. Uplifting others as you are uplifting yourself is a rare talent and should be celebrated. Positivity in life is a special gift that gives even more when it is shared with others. These points are just a few of what I find most inspiring about this incredible woman, KD French.
