So I thought id share with all you lovely people my music of 2020, based on what my Spotify most played of 2020. I have sneaked a few extra tracks on that i feel are too good to let slip under the radar, and not get the air time they deserve, i hope you enjoy it, just as much as i enjoyed it making up the soundtrack to my year! As the next year 2021 progresses i hope to continue this style of article, with me sharing my monthly playlists, as well as highlighting any tracks which i feel to be essential and unmissable.

This year seen quite a lot of time given to The Police. I’ve been a massive fan of for years, but during furlough and walking to work everyday, i decided to listen to every album start to finish. The result, an even greater love for them, and more appreciation for the tracks i already loved, as well as discovery of new song's i didn't know by them. It's quite possibly set me up for writing up a future article on them. Next up was UNKLE who also make quite a presence on this years playlist, again a massive fan for years, but possibly their presence is down to a certain article i wrote about them, which if you'd like to read please click here.

The rest is a true eclectic mix of song’s that i like or heard throughout the course of the year, from Dance, Metal, Alternative, Indie, Pop (even K-), Jazz, 80s, Rap and Soul, there is a something for everyone, promise!

I’ve included the main playlist, but to make it easier to digest (as its quite long), i’ve also broken it down into 4 sub-lists: Dance, Alternative, Golden Oldies, and The Rest. Hopefully making it easier to find something that appeals directly to you, and maybe fit a bit better into the time you have to listen, or just something which fits your taste in music. At the end of each of the sub-genre's i've included the music vidoes for some tracks which i feel are unmissable, and also if maybe yoiu don't have a spotify account or the time to indulge in a large playlist. ENJOY!!!

DANCE

Speaks for itself really, some old, some new tracks. A higher RPM to give you the boost to get whatever it is that needs done, from finishing the cleaning, to beating that personal best jog time. No 2 tracks on this are the same, so be prepared, and get that volume up!

Stand out tracks from this list:

Opus III - It's A Fine Day

Hercules & Love Affair ft. John Grant - I Try To Talk Yo You

ALTERNATIVE

Probably a genre that has grown with me as I’ve gotten older. I can’t help love a song that doesn’t comfortably fit in a genre, or straddles more than one. Some slow, some quick, but all outsiders these tracks will stick with you, so go on treat the ears!

Stand out tracks from this list:

Massive Attack - Daydreaming

Thundercat - Them Changes

GOLDEN OLDIES

Who doesn’t love an old-y, from your granny to that shirt you’ve had for 10 years, we can’t get away from it. If it’s nostalgia you want, or just think all modern music is rubbish, this is your playlist, just don’t pop a hip dancing to it!

Stand out tracks from this list:

The Police - De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da

Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer

THE REST

These tracks are a mix, and arguably could nestle in beside any of the above playlist. However i felt they needed their own space, to stand out and breath. This list really swings from one genre to another, ever think Metallica couldn’t be in the same playlist as Zayn from One Direction, then think again, go on turn the dial to 11!

Stand out tracks from this list:

Wolf Alice - Silk

*below is a acoustic version of Tom Misch, but is just as good as the orignal!

Tom Mitch and Jordan Rakei - Wake Up This Day

Hope you’ve enjoyed the music, and don’t forget how important music is. Afterall its the soundtrack to your life!!!
