Inheritance and Adaptation
It’s difficult for me—as I imagine it would be difficult for any lover of music—to come up with a set playlist of perfect tunes to outline a soundtrack to my life. After all, we are so connected to the music that defines our human experience that choosing some of it to showcase as “important” invariably omits so much more that may be equally important. Of course, being a composer and sound engineer, I see the value in buckling down and making those cuts. What’s more, it could refer to an aspect of my personality, a time in my life, or an overarching biographical soundtrack. Some Songs I Love
Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi: Not long after I got my driver’s license, I remember listening to this song on the radio on the way to school. This song always managed to put a smile on my face and filled me with energy and liveliness. It also has a good message about hope and perseverance. How can this song not be one of my favorites?
