Back On The Road
Introduction In the playlist above, my friend Harper Lewis asked why I hadn't included "Road To Nowhere" by The Talking Heads. The main reason was that the song is so well-known, but it is a brilliant song. Then I looked at the CDs on my desk and remembered I had missed an absolutely brilliant Tom Waits song.

On The Road
Introduction There are thousands of songs that mention the word "Road" in the title, and I will try and stay away from the obvious such as Canned Heat's iconic "On The Road Again" but when I did my "Runaway Train" playlist I found ten songs with that title. These wont't all have the same same title.

A Song Of Vocal Tales
Introduction Almost every piece I publish on Vocal has a piece of music to go with it. I used to have a Facebook page called "For Everything In My Life There Is A Song" and very often when I read stories, a song or piece of music will come to mind.

An Anatomical Playlist
The Intro I was listening to some songs, and "Magic Man" by Heart came on. I thought that could be an interesting theme for a playlist, featuring parts of the body in either the song title or the band name. I will probably miss a lot, but I am just going to dive in and see where this takes me.

Pigs
Introduction I am not sure what inspired this, but there are more than a few good songs about pigs. As a teenager, I worked on a farm and thought it was quite funny when the piglets tried to eat my toes through my wellies and we all love the film Babe, don't we?

A Plagiaristic Playlist
Introduction There are many songs that borrow from others, some acknowledge their source, and some donโt. Some are deliberate and some are accidental. These are some that I have noticed over my life and you may agree with me or disagree with me, some are obvious and some are a little harder to discern but hopefully, you will enjoy all of them. All of the songs are excellent it;s up to you whether or not you agree with me, but hopefully, this will spur some commentary.

A Journey Worth Leaving Behind
โAnd a headstrong stubborn man Only works it out the best he canโ โ Journey, โAfter the Fallโ I remember being impressed when my aunt told me she had seen a Beatles concert in New York City. One does not have to be a fan of their music to recognize their impact on rock music and popular culture. I imagined it must have been extraordinary to witness one of their live performances.

The Music of The Glacier
Falling Into Sigur Rรณs I once heard the music of Sigur Rรณs described as glacial, but in a very positive way. The band hail from Reykjavรญk, Iceland so that is probably not an unexpected description. All their songs are sung entirely in the constructed language Hopelandic (or Vonlenska in Icelandic)., but sound absolutely beautiful.
