Songs for a Broken, Healing, or Free Heart
Anti- Valentine’s Day Playlist
Not feeling, “the love tonight”? No worries, here are 10, anti-valentines day tunes that will have you happily humming along, and remind you that you saved at least $24.99 on skipping the chocolates, flowers, and cards this year.
1. "You Outta Know", Alanis Morissette
Thank you, (see what I did there) Alanis for reminding us that screaming about an ex, is a great way to remind ourselves, sometimes we are better off single, and we can even somewhat feel bad for their next victims, I mean, love interests.
2. "Special", Garbage
Another great chick rocker, Shirley Manson, reminds us to care less about those exes and that they really weren’t that special after all, and when they come crawling back; the answer is, “No!”
3. "NO", Meghan Trainor
Speaking of, No, Megan reminds us to keep it simple. Great song to dance along to with your Galentine’s as you celebrate your singleness together.
4. "Since U Been Gone", Kelly Clarkson
My all time favorite karaoke jam. How can one resist yelling along with Kelly as she celebrates how happy one can be after someone is out of your life for good.
5. "Dead Inside", Muse
It’s not just ladies night on our, Anti-Valentine’s playlist. Remind yourself just why you are single. Everyone you seem to find, is just fake, empty and, Dead Inside.
6. "Apologize", Timbaland/OneRepublic
Perhaps and ex recently tried to hit you up for a Valentine’s Day dinner? Remind yourself why you said no, sometimes it really is, “too late to apologize”.
7. "Rolling in the Deep", Adele
Come on, you knew there had to be at least one Adele song on an, Anti-Valentine’s day list. I just, “can’t help feeling”, that this has been played on repeat for many on this day for the past decade. Yes, you read that right, a decade. Adele’s album, 21, was released, January 2011.
8. "Happy", Pharrell
Might seem an odd addition to an anti love playlist, but hear me out. This is a great song to celebrate just how, happy you are. Plus we need some uplifting after belting out our sorrows with Adele. This song has a bright beat and uplifting lyrics about happiness, and none of that happiness is tied to a significant other.
9. "Sexy and I know it", LMFAO
While we are dancing and getting that heartbeat up, we might as well celebrate how sexy we feel. This song always brings a smile to my face and a skip in my step. We can still have fun, while we ignore this, Hallmark holiday.
10. "I Will Survive", Gloria Ganyor
Keeping it old school and taking it back to the 70’s with this classic anthem about moving on, being strong and single.
There you have it, 10 songs for your unattached heart. Does this list leave you wanting more? Here are a few honorable mentions.
Before he Cheats, Carrie Underwood
If you have ever been cheated on, you already have this song locked and loaded in your playlist. Why not give it a listen today, and sing that pain away.
Dancing with Myself, Billy Idol
Another fun and upbeat tune. Just a disclaimer, it will end up playing in your head till at least Easter. So you have been warned. Just writing this I can hear it playing in my head.
“Well, there's nothing to lose, So there's nothing to prove
When I'm dancing with myself, Oh oh oh-oh”
You’re welcome.
Let it Be, The Beatles
Any day listening to, The Beatles, is always a good day in my book Why not throw in a couple extra of their jams while you are at it, perhaps, Hey Jude, Eleanor Rigby…
Battlefield, Jordan Sparks
Love it a battlefield, and congratulations, you aren’t fighting that war. Poor yourself a glass of wine and toast to yourself. You are free from the relationship drama tonight!
Rather you choose to celebrate your singleness or secretly weep over a lost love, these jams will have you singing, dancing and celebrating. Are we allowed to celebrate, not celebrating? Absolutely, because we can’t be Valentine’s Day villains, without this day that celebrates all the things you despise.
