This is a short series of songs written for each day of the week. I began with songs with Monday in the title and progressing through the week we are now up to songs with Saturday in the title and will add the links to each one below as I progress.

“Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” is a song that was recorded by English singer, songwriter, and pianist Elton John. John composed it with his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and is featured on his best-selling 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The song was released as the first single from the album. It charted on the Billboard Top 40 and UK Singles charts. This was the only single by John that failed to make it to the Top 10 and did not go Gold or Platinum.

“Saturday in the Park” is a song that was written by Robert Lamm and was recorded by the American rock band Chicago. It is featured on their 1972 album Chicago V. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became the band’s highest-charting single at the time. Their album went to number one. The single was certified Gold by the RIAA.

“Saturday Night” is a song that was written by Bill Martin and Phil Coulter. It was recorded by the Scottish pop-rock band Bay City Rollers. When released in the US the song rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became the first Billboard number one of the US Bicentennial year. In 1974 the band re-recorded the song for their UK album Rollin’. This single was the only number one hit for the In 2019 it was used in the Netflix series “Umbrella Academy”.

“Saturday Night (Is the Loneliest Night of the Week)” is a song that was written by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn in 1944. It became popular when it was recorded by American singer and actor Frank Sinatra.

“Another Saturday Night” is a song that was written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Sam Cooke in 1963. It charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles charts and went to number one on the R&B chart. It was a pleasurable song to listen to and dance to. In 1974 British singer, songwriter, and musician Cat Stevens released his own version of the song and charted on the Billboard Hot 100, Easy Listening, and UK Singles charts.

“When Saturday Comes” is a song that was recorded by the British rock band Def Leppard. It is featured on their 1999 album Slang. The song had powerful lyrics and a melodic composition. The song raises the themes of longing, acceptance, and the pursuit of dreams. It is like an anthem for those people who refuse to give up on their dreams and inspires listeners to rise above all obstacles that keep them from attaining their goals.

“Saturday Night Special” is a song that was recorded by American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is the opening track of their album Nuthin’ Fancy. The song addressed the fatal tragedies that occur when people make use of guns.

“Louisiana Saturday Night” is a song that was written by Bob McDill and was recorded by American country music artist Mel McDaniel. The song was released in 1981 as the third single from his album I’m Countryfied. This song was originally recorded by American country singer and songwriter Don Williams and is on his 1977 album Country Boy.

“Saturday Sun” is a song that was recorded by Australian singer and songwriter Vance Joy. It came out in 2018 and is on his album Nation of Two. In May 2018, an acoustic version of this song was released.
