Running to the altar like a track star

I might not be ready to get married on a whim, but it's fun as an idea.

Spotify is slightly lacking in the music recommendation area, at least for me. I want to hear new music! Music that sounds like what I'm listening to! Not unrelated top 40 hits, and not the same songs over and over.

When it started playing a certain Bruno Mars song after I'd requested Taylor Swift's "Paper Rings," I turned it off and immediately set about making a playlist that actually fit together. Bruno has the perfect song to go along with Paper Rings, Spotify, and that wasn't it. You missed the mark. Go home and come back with some better recommendations, please.

It isn't a very big playlist yet, but I'm pretty happy with it. If you like soft, sweet tunes about impulsively deciding to spend the rest of your life with someone you really love, you might like it too.

Honestly, I'm a little worried about the unhealthy relationship habits that Taylor seems to have picked up from our society, but this song is a bop. It has such a gentle feeling for a song that gets me bouncing around the room.

Gabrielle Aplin's "So Far So Good" continues the theme of coming to love someone deeply after dismissing them at the initial meeting. It's not about marriage specifically, but it has an airy feeling to her 'we're doing well at the moment because we've worked at it, so let's see where this goes' message, so I think it fits well on this playlist.

In my eyes, this is what relationships should be. It's the epitome of romance for me. I couldn't leave it out.

Ed and Justin continue the lighthearted theme of feeling comfortable with being yourself around your significant other. Again, it's not marriage-specific, but I felt that the tone and the message fit the mood. These are songs that I could easily see a married couple enjoying--they tie into the emotions of the thing, and to the overall storyline.

(Honestly, Justin has a lot to answer for, but I like his newer music. I hope he really is doing better and taking responsibility for his actions.)

Say! Geronimo! and let's get married.

This is similar to "Paper Rings" for me because it feels so soft in sentiment, but it's so wildly uplifting that I can't help but feel bouncier when I hear it.

Here it is! The song that essentially started this playlist.

I don't think getting married is dumb, but it seems so free and special to just be able to say, hey. Let's do this together. We can undo it later if we don't like it. I just like you that much, let's go for it.

(This song has somewhat explicit lyrics, in that it references explicit things but doesn't call them by name.)

This song is so much fun. It's quirky and sweet and fits the mood perfectly.

Okay, I know this song is pretty much everywhere right now and you might want to skip it, but it fits the mood and message so perfectly! I love the idea of loving someone being holy. It's everything romance should be--even if I think the rap verse in the middle is a bit silly. (And not in a fun way.)

(This song references explicit things. There's one (1) line that names one of them, and it's repeated throughout the song.)

Andy, I love your heart.

This is all about waiting to have sex until you're married. That's part of the reason some people want to get married right away--they crave that intimacy, and want to be able to experience it in a way that isn't frowned upon.

I know this is a mixed bag for the general public, but I think it's sweet. You can tell he really cares about her.
