For those of you who are Facebook friends, you may see certain songs featured on my story from time to time. I don’t usually share my music taste unless you’re a close mate and so, consider yourself a close mate. I’m actually writing the majority of this on my phone and I’m hoping to keep it short.

I’ll give you a short history of me and the album in question followed by why I like it so much. I guess that’s simple enough. Please, if you don’t like my taste in music, can you just not say anything mean? I have had enough of people saying mean stuff about my music taste.

My 5 Favourite Albums Ever

5. Closing Time by Tom Waits

From: Amazon

I’m not sure how I came across this album for the first time but I do remember I had a friend at university who adored Tom Waits and I told her I was a Dylan fan.

Out of all of his albums it was really a toss up between “Closing Time” and “Bad as Me” and both of them are amazing. But, by a small edge because this album has the song “Martha” on it, I have had to go with “Closing Time”. Apart from this, I would say a close call would be "The Heart of Saturday Night" which features the incredible "San Diego Serenade". But, of course, "Closing Time" is a powerful album, one which definitely puts Tom Waits up there with Bob Dylan for me.

4. The Best of Tim Curry

From: Apple Music

This album features a lot on my Facebook stories. I have to say I love Tim Curry’s singing voice. Famous songs such as “Paradise Garage” and “I Do the Rock” are on it as well as his cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Cold Blue Steel and Sweet Fire” (which I think is slightly better than the original even though it is also ironically my favourite Joni Mitchell song).

If I’m correct this album has Tim Curry’s cover of “Simple Twist of Fate” by Bob Dylan on it and that is absolutely awesome with his voice.

Again, I’m not sure how I came across this album but it was definitely long enough ago for me to have many of the songs memorised.

3. Dangerous by Michael Jackson

From: Amazon

Who can deny that there is probably a Michael Jackson album or two on their top 20 somewhere? Dangerous is an angry album, I love that the songs are so filled with fire. My favourite MJ song is “Give In To Me” so it seems to be the perfect album for me.

I was very young (I’m talking maybe less than 10) when I remember having this album on CD. It wasn’t even mine but it got played in my CD player anyway. We also have to admit it has some of the greatest artwork ever.

2. The Futurist by Robert Downey Jr

From: Amazon

One of the most incredible and memorable times in my teen years often include me listening to this album. Not enough people have listened to it but honestly, I can’t tell you how much I love it.

Songs such as “Hannah” and “Kimberly Glide” are amongst my favourites. Robert Downey Jr has such an incredible singing voice I am astounded that he didn’t make another album. His cover of Joni Mitchell’s song “River” is perhaps again, better than the original but not featured on the album.

1. Infidels by Bob Dylan

From: Amazon

I’m a huge Dylan fan and many people may not realise that this one is my favourite album by him. I know it may not be the best one objectively but I absolutely adore the sound.

Songs such as “Don’t Fall Apart on Me Tonight” and “Man of Peace” are simplistic beats with amazing lyrics. I would like to hold discussions with anyone who doesn't include this album in their top five albums by Bob Dylan.

Conclusion

This was a difficult list to make and I would've liked to include many more albums I enjoy. These include some albums by Lou Reed, some by David Bowie and of course, some more by Bob Dylan. I hope you've enjoyed this list and, if you haven't then I apologise.
