Life can seem a bit mundane, redundant and dismal as of late. We are cooped up inside of our houses, studio apartments, garages, and attics...like bats waiting for a flicker of hope...

Amidst this chaos of extroverts panic-buying diapers and toilet paper, behaving like they just had the worst Taco Bell experience of their life, introverts are s'living their best life.

We've been prepared for this all of our lives. Where the hell is the bad? We have all the time in the world to create, catch up on shows, creative content, draw, paint, dance, relax...and of course listen to music.

The biggest surprise in music is definitely Lindsay Lohan's latest single "Back to Me" produced and written by Mark Ralph, with the help of Alma and Chiara Hunter. Prior to this release via Republic Records, the red-haired beauty dropped "Xanax" last fall. It brought a lot of fans hope for a potential EP, but the video was exclusively released on Instagram. It was a catchy tune with undertones of slowed down trance and euro-dance beats. While her previous albums and singles had been primarily targeted at the pop audience, electronic dance music is something that resonates with this artist the most.

Lilo has been teasing us with the release of her latest track all week relating to fans on Twitter that this particular song is about "rediscovering and accepting oneself shutting out the noise and moving forward and letting the past go."

That said, let's digest this piece.

I used to blame me when sh*t got crazy

I can't think too much 'bout what they say

And now these Sundays got me feeling like Mondays

I know I drink too much, but it's OK

My life is full of ripped up pages

I've been weak, contagious

But I'm coming back to me

I'm coming back to me

Oh, but I know that everything changes

...

I'ma do it right and let it go

Everything I can't control

Shoulda done it long ago

No matter how much of a Judgmental Judy you are of Lohan's notorious partying days and ways, it's no question that we have all been there and can, to some extent, relate to this bid.

Millennials, in particular, get a bad rep for not getting their shit together. We are all guilty of having way too many gin and tonics and waking up next to a Brad or Chad, doing the walk of shame, buying the morning-after pill and then hating ourselves. Buuut then we realize that this is our time to screw up, it's okay to go off the rails every now and then, as long as we understand that there is always a path back to our roots, our intrinsic selves.

Is the song a poetic novelty?

No.

Is it personal and raw?

Yes.

And in that regard it's also very relatable.

We probably won't be reliving our epiphanies to this song, but we sure as hell can dance our ass off to it underneath the strobe lights, in the crimson rays of the sun illuminating through our blinds, and eventually turn it up on a cruise in the car with the top down...once the pandemic lockdown is over.

What a time to be alive, right?

Music truthfully is the brightest beacon of hope in any given situation. There's so much good music coming out and while events are currently getting postponed or cancelled, the beat never stops.

Keep dancing like no one's watching to the tune linked below.
