Whether you are a fan of it or not, you have definetely saw the huge explosion of this particular genre of music all over the world those past few years. At some point, you would wonder how do Kpop get to make all those people addicted. Although, one can argue that every generation has something they all go crazy for. Few decades ago, it was The Beattles or Michael Jackson. Then we had Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and many others for the past few years. But it was always western music. So how did Kpop become the new challenger?

They call it Hallyu, the Korean wave: the possibility that South Korean mainstream society has filled in unmistakable quality to turn into a significant driver of worldwide culture, found in everything from Korean dramas on Netflix to Korean skincare regimens overwhelming the makeup business. What's more, at the core of Hallyu is the steadily developing notoriety of K-pop — short, obviously, for Korean popular music.

Kpop was born 2 decades ago and it has grow so much througth the years. The growth and expansion definitely took a significant turn with the 2nd generation of groups. Among many, Super Junior, Girls Generation, BIGBANG, Wonder Girls and 2NE1 were the pionneers of this mainstream popularity. Today, the frontliners of Kpop globalization are BTS, EXO, TWICE, BlackPink, Stray Kids, NCT, aespa, Seventeen etc...

So what makes Kpop different and addictive? Why are millions of teenagers and young adults streaming, voting and interacting on social media all day about the favorites stars?

First, the whole concept. Most of kpop is about groups, both girls and boys groups. Often, there are 4 members and more. Each of them has a specific position: vocal, rap or visual. It really changes from the 1990s western groups where basically only one or 2 members sing. And the constant beats switch up add an amazing flavor (ask all SM Ent groups' fans and they'll talk about it for hours).

Second, the choreographies. What makes K-Popular unique in relation to Western music is their accentuation on the general execution (check the performances of Gods Meny by Stray Kids). They need to consider the master plan of how the song will be displayed in front of an audience. With its huge number of artists, versatile music in light of the inclinations of people in general, and tracks in view of movements, it's no big surprise K-Pop is so exceptional and all around cherished!

A prime example of Kpop success is how Super Junior got millions of people hooked from 2009 to 2011 with their beat, amazing vocals (despited the trendy autotune at that time) and choreographies that went viral (years before tiktok). And recently, BTS became a worldwide name with their amazing beats, dances and performances (check Run BTS) even earning several Grammy nominations.

Another particular thing about Kpop is the Lightsticks. Quite some time in the past when the OGs like g.o.d, S.E.S or Shinhwa arose the most effective way to exhibit the solidarity of fans was to wear a clothing in the group gathering's tone. Then the unobtrusive lightsticks appeared. In any case, the times when one would utilize a straightforward shine stick at the show have proactively passed. These days we have something more refined and recognizable between the fandoms of various gatherings. The KPop light sticks are what we as a whole need to be outfitted with while going to a show of other occasion and rooting for our number one craftsmen. Frequently a different forms of the thing are delivered after some time, with every one of them introducing a few minor changes.

All in all, K-pop is a class of famous music that separates itself from Western popular music through its solid accentuation on visual components, escalated preparing process, high creation worth, and joining of Korean language and culture in its verses. These elements, joined with the class' worldwide prominence, have assisted with laying out K-pop as an interesting and particular type of music.
