The merged platform combines the strengths of both HBO Max and Discovery+, leveraging the robustness of the latter's platform. Streamlined Navigation

Max introduces a simplified navigation system, making it faster and easier for users to find content and discover new TV shows and movies. Categories have been streamlined, content details pages have been improved, and dedicated brand hubs and thematic content rails have been introduced. While the service drops "HBO" from its name, a dedicated HBO tab remains at the top of the connected TV menu to highlight the continued importance of HBO content within Max. The left-hand rail of the Max user interface on TVs features only four items: search, home, My Stuff, and settings, reducing clutter and improving usability.

Personalized Content Recommendations

Max enhances the personalization features by providing content recommendations tailored to each user profile across the entire service. Building on the model established by HBO Max, Max offers personalized suggestions based on viewing activity. Additionally, a new end-card recommendation, referred to as the "genre outro," suggests relevant content after users finish watching a show or TV season.

Introduction of a 4K Plan

Max introduces a new premium tier that includes 4K Ultra HD content and allows up to four concurrent streams. With the expanded 4K UHD content catalog featuring over 1,000 movies and TV episodes, subscribers can enjoy enhanced picture quality and an immersive viewing experience. The 4K plan is available alongside two existing tiers, Max With Ads and Max Ad-Free, catering to a variety of user preferences and budgets.

Enhanced Kids Experience and Parental Controls

Recognizing the importance of kids' content, Max offers a default kids profile for new subscribers and introduces robust parental controls. Parents can limit content access based on ratings, lock adult profiles, and prevent kids from exiting the kids' profile. Improved Download Experience

Max introduces over 350 profile icons, including popular characters from renowned franchises like Harry Potter, The Last of Us, and Peacemaker. Additionally, avatars from beloved Discovery shows, including Fixer Upper, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, and 90 Day Fiancé, are available. With a diverse selection of profile avatars, users can personalize their profiles and express their unique interests.

Innovative Ad Formats

Max combines the best ad formats from HBO Max and Discovery+ to offer an engaging and light ad experience on the Max With Ads plan. Ad formats include pre-roll ads, mid-roll ads, takeovers, Brand Block, InFront, interactive ads, and pause ads. The careful integration of advertisements ensures a seamless and enjoyable viewing experience while providing valuable opportunities for advertisers to connect with audiences.

Accessibility Features

Max prioritizes accessibility by offering 6,500 hours of audio descriptive content at launch. This includes shows from lifestyle brands like Magnolia, TLC, and HGTV, alongside HBO and Max originals. The service supports screen reader technology on various platforms, including web, Roku, LG, Samsung, Xbox, PlayStation 5, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android devices, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, DirecTV, Comcast, and Cox. These accessibility features enable a broader audience to enjoy the diverse range of content available on Max.
